Lump on my shin

I’ve got this hard, painless lump on my lower leg that didn't even show up on my X-ray. My doctor thinks it’s probably just a lipoma, but I don't know... it feels really firm, it doesn't move at all, and it's sitting right where the bone is shallow and there's basically no muscle covering it. I wonder what else it could be. Should I keep pressing her about it so she gives me a referral for some more testing?

Honestly, you should probably just go get an MRI or something. It’s possible you’re dealing with exostosis, but you really need a doctor to confirm that for sure.

I actually have it on the outer side of my left shin, right below the knee—it feels like this hard, bony bump just under the skin, but then when I look at my X-rays, it barely even shows up.

Thanks👍 I’m definitely going in to see the doctor once they tell me exactly what's going on. I don't really care about the outcome at this point, whatever happens, happens. I'm just hoping it's just exudative conjunctivitis; when I feel it, the texture kind of reminds me of a mushroom cap.
