What was the actual reasoning behind locking this thread?

Was it because someone bumped an old topic, or is there some other rule I missed? 😕

Yeah, just because someone decided to dig up an old thread that doesn't even have anything worth talking about anymore.

Maybe we could carve out some space here specifically for questions about how moderation works in the States—you know, not just whining about getting banned or all that other crap. 😉

Without even getting into whatever potential baggage they might have from before, the person in question asked quite calmly whether this thread could remain dedicated to inquiries regarding the moderation of the US. That is to say, not to justify every single moderator action, but rather to provide answers to questions found on—believe it or not—the document titled the Employee Handbook.

Regardless, the phrasing "well, I suppose I won't have to justify myself to William Mitchell50 just once" is undeniably insulting and condescending, completely irrespective of the context in which it was uttered. That specific wording unmistakably implies that the author considers "one single William Mitchell50" to be beneath them. There really is no room for debate there—unless someone dares to head over to those "nothing-to-see-here" types on Reddit to hear the exact same thing I'm saying, only much more crudely. 😁

However, I fail to understand one thing: you wouldn't feel insulted if I were to write, "Well, I suppose hollowtrucker77 won't be explaining things to me..."? I mean, that would definitely be an insult. 😕

It was a major topic for maybe three or four years, but even then, it wasn't really being used much. During my first year of moderating, I think maybe only five people actually asked anything about it.
It’s sitting there in the thread list right now, and honestly, you don't have to go out of your way to find it. However, we might consider moving the thread back up to the top. Personally, I’d love to see some suggestions from the community regarding how we handle the subforums.

"Wanted" is—quite frankly—the wrong word here. And I certainly don't care about anyone getting slapped with a ban. Perhaps one could say I had hoped (if we really want to be generous about it) that you might write something along the lines of, "I didn't mean it that way, sorry if it came off like that, damn, just having a bad day, planetary alignments, whatever..." But, when instead of actually addressing the issue, you just "resolve" things with some cheap smiley face, I honestly wouldn't give a damn.

Aha, I suppose you were expecting me to go on a long rant apologizing for that post. To be honest, I really don't have the energy for it; it feels quite exhausting, even though I do have a specific reason for why I wrote it that way.

It strikes me as odd that most of the more active sub-forums lack a complaints log as a pinned or top-level thread... ☕

Regardless of my age, I don't see any reason to be polite to rude people who are twice my age.
