Seriously incredible... man 🙏. I honestly think Instruments of might be slightly better than Festival of Death, though Wells absolutely crushes it on both, just like you said... and Engman on the last one. Honestly, who can even keep track of all this stuff? I know for a fact I have those two albums on cassette... and man, I'd give anything to hear them on CD again 😂—they sounded way more brutal back then. I actually planned on catching a show somewhere, maybe a couple dates in Austria at the Underworld club in Graz—but it ended up getting canceled. I was so damn stoked to go. Usually, they'll make an appearance if they drop something new in the States. I think they were supposed to play with Liturgy... maybe back in 2004 or 2005?!

I honestly have no clue... I'm not even sure if they're still active at all, both Brodequin and Liturgy...

Unmatched Brutality just stopped taking orders entirely. Brodequin called it quits, too. There was actually some talk about them reuniting a little while back, but that whole thing went south. It’s such a bummer—I was a huge fan of that band. Total crap!!! I'm gonna go vent to some metalheads at a festival to honor them🙏>

here's 12 songs in 5 minutes so we can finally lock this thread

I think they have that Anal Cunt "5678 song e.p." or whatever, but that isn't even playing music anymore...

bravo 🙏 🙏 🙏

In my book, this is the best Napalm Death "Hatred Surge" demo out there—they aren't even playing fast here, but they are brutally dark as hell. You’ve got Broderick on guitar (post-Godflesh era), so it’s honestly no surprise it sounds this heavy. This specific lineup actually recorded the "From Enslavement to Obliteration" demo too, where you can already hear a much more defined grind sound, plus the first side of "Scum." The feta LP features a different lineup, which most people consider the classic era. There was an EV band that was supposed to do a split with ND (on the first side of "Scum"), but apparently, they weren't feeling the cult following surrounding ND back then, heh. This track is from their demo; they eventually put out some standalone vinyls—fucking Atavistic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdWZEozbOXE

Nicole Mitchell3 said:I can't recall if we've had a thread like this floating around before. I'm looking for bands that really push the tempo—specifically those with lightning-fast drumming. Is there anyone out there playing drums even faster than DragonForce?

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Well, damn.

Anyway, I went through all the links provided and noticed nobody actually dropped these absolute monsters. So, here you go:🙂 The Berzerker

If we're going with the automatic stuff, these are easily the best ones out there.

It’s practically a sin to overlook a total heavyweight like Terrorizer. Seriously, Dave Lombardo is easily one of the most elite drummers out there. 🙏

I caught a story once where his bandmates played some recording for him—just a drum machine cranking away—and messed with him by claiming some random kid somewhere was playing even faster than that. They were basically trolling him, saying he couldn't keep up with this new prodigy. lol. Well, the guy didn't just take it; he locked himself in a practice room for a couple of weeks until he could tear through that exact same tempo even faster than the damn machine 😁. Absolute legend.

Yeah... Brutal and Terrorizer... even Napalm Death (Harmony Corruption) back when I was really into metal 🙂

Do bands that good even exist anymore?

With early Dave Lombardo, the speed was there, sure, but the flow on Terrorizer and those first three Mangel albums is just top-tier.
But we aren't talking about flow, we're talking about pure speed...🙂
Don't forget Lombardo on Reign in Blood, either. That was incredibly intense for its time.

Haha, I’m just cruising in my car today, lost in thought, when this thread pops back into my head—specifically that question: "Is there any band that plays drums faster than, say, DragonForce?" under the title "Brutally Fast Bands." I started sitting there thinking, man, looking back at all those "brutal" and fast bands, where would you even actually place DragonForce 😁? I ended up laughing like a total idiot to myself behind the wheel. 😁🙏 Look, I’m not trying to mock anyone or be a jerk here, I'm just stating a fact. 🙂

Anyway, it made me think of this incredibly high-quality band from the Czech Republic. I don't quite know how to categorize them—I’d venture to call them progressive/technical/grind (🙂) !T.O.O.H! - Konec kontinentalniho kontejneru or this track right here: !T.O.O.H.! - Kali . Their drummer is an absolute beast—extremely precise with constant tempo shifts. Their last album before they called it quits, Work and Punishment, is honestly one of the better albums out there, period.

DragonForce🤣, man! This !T.O.O.H! track gives me some serious Cephalic vibes—kind of reminds me of Asesino’s vocal style too😂—but honestly, I’m just obsessed with how tight that snare sounds!
Most of you probably already know this, but I figured I'd drop the link to Misery index - The Great Depression http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5IHYo5AZ5w
