What the hell? Why can't I see any threads?

Where did all the tutorial threads go? 😕

Man, I really wanted to upload some screenshots to help explain, but Imageshack is acting up again and being a total pain... 😠
And just my luck, even though I’ve got high-speed fiber internet from Xfinity, everything still crawls when I actually need it to work. ☕

Anyway, does anyone know why there are only six threads showing up in the "Tutorials" section of the IT subforum, and four of those are just pinned Top Threads?

Honestly, it's pre-stupid. The "show all threads" option really ought to be the default setting.☕

Well, then I honestly have no clue what happened🤷. It was a while back when I toggled the setting so my posts would only show up for my contacts, and that’s exactly how they stayed. I know this because when I checked the Statistic page to track down my own history, even I couldn't find them! It was the same deal when I tried browsing someone else's profile to see their activity—I just got an error message saying the content wasn't visible.
Obviously, any post I make directly within a specific discussion thread is visible, but I’m talking specifically about visibility on the Statistic page—you know, under that Find all posts by...
section.

BUT if you put someone on your Ignore list, they won't see your posts.
And likewise, you won't see anything they post either.

HOWEVER, if someone adds you to their Ignore list, they won't see anything you write.
It works both ways, too—you won't see any posts from someone you've put on ignore either.

Well, if you say so, I guess I’ll take your word for it🙄👍. As far as I can tell, I don't have anyone on my ignore list, and nobody has me on theirs. I must have just been seeing things for a while there😁.

I think we're talking past each other🙄. This isn't about hiding anything; it's just how the search engine works on Statistic. For example, if I want to check out someone's profile—like yours, for instance—why would I need to know if you've also posted in a debate about whether ducks are actually geese or something? 😁 If I'm chatting with you right here, why should I care what you're up to in another corner of the site? 🤷 It’s not some grand conspiracy to hide posts

The only thing you can really do is turn on "invisible mode" (there's probably a guide for it in the tutorial at the top of this subforum). That stops other users from seeing when you're online or what you're up to.

As far as I know, even the mods won't see you, but the admins still will.

Why would I be mad?🙄 I actually tried doing that a while back. Once I realized I couldn't see which subreddits someone was active in on their profile, I got curious about how that worked. I tried toggling the setting so my activity isn't public to everyone, just my friends, and it worked perfectly! The only snag was that then even I couldn't see them anymore.😁

And trust me, I definitely don't want to be invisible!🙂

It never worked before and honestly, it’d be stupid if it did. A forum is supposed to be public—the whole point is that anyone can jump in and say whatever they want about a topic. That’s what makes it a forum. The usernames are stripped of any real identity anyway; your profile is just defined by the stuff you actually write. I get why people want profiles on other sites, but here, your profile is just how you interact with everyone else. It's kind of a more objective way to do things compared to something like Tinder, where everyone's just "fit because they hit the gym" or "into spirituality" or whatever. (Not like I even have a profile over there...)😳)

You're basically a fake if you aren't posting on the spiritual boards, a total loser if you don't hit up Coachella, an IT guy if you aren't on Napredan, and just a straight-up coward if you won't start a thread on Reddit after getting banned.

I guess you can judge someone just by skimming their posts for a second and build an opinion from there. It's fine, I guess.

Its whole value lies in the fact that anyone can drop in, join a conversation, and share their perspective. That’s the soul of a forum! To make that happen, usernames stay anonymous—your identity isn't found in a bio, it's built through the posts you write. On sites like LinkedIn, your profile defines you, but here, your "profile" is how you interact and debate with others. It’s a much more objective experience than something like Instagram, where everyone just follows a curated vibe of being "perfectly fit" or "deeply spiritual." (I don't even have a profile over there...😳)

Around here, you're considered "spiritual" if you don't post in the religion section, a "wild child" if you aren't hanging out in the nightlife threads, an "IT pro" if you stay out of the tech forums, and a "coward" if you won't start a thread in the grievance section after getting banned.

By glancing at someone's post history, you get a snapshot of who they are in seconds, and you can form an opinion based on that. And that’s perfectly fine!

Oh, I haven't😁...all my threads are open for anyone to read.
