Gonna give this Movie a rewatch tomorrow afternoon.

Man, I'm actually planning on catching that one tomorrow afternoon too. 👍

Edit: I laid everything out in post # 40 if anyone is still scratching their heads about anything.

Man, I didn't get a chance to check it out yesterday, and honestly, my morning has been a total whirlwind too, so I'm really hoping I can finally sit down and dive into it tonight.

Has anyone actually managed to watch it yet? It’s totally quiet in here, even though we're supposed to be talking about the Movie "Seven Deadly Sins" 🤷

I gotta say, that whole "The three-day rule" thing feels pretty ridiculous to me right now, like, what's even the point? Are people seriously supposed to just sit around waiting for someone else to finish a Movie before they can chime in?! If you've seen it, just drop your thoughts, and if you haven't, you can jump into the conversation once you're done, right? It's really that simple.

I can't speak for everyone else here, but I think I’ll steer clear of this particular topic. It feels like it was thrown together without any real thought or direction, and now we're left in that awkward position where nobody knows who's picking up the tab.

Salis? Chaotic? Haha, unplanned? 😂

Man, I actually spent a couple of days prepping this whole topic, coming up with rules, and then finally hitting that button to open it up.

Maybe my only real blunder was saying that suggestions were welcome in the first place; honestly, maybe I should have just stood my ground and said, "Look, this is how I envisioned it—if you dig it, awesome, if not, that's on you."

And as for that bit about not knowing who's running things... 🤣 Well, what did you expect would happen when everyone had such different ideas about how this should go? Did you really think we wouldn't end up with a bit of a circus? I knew that might happen, obviously, but I wanted to give everyone a fair shot to weigh in on the rules and throw out some ideas. My original vision for the thread was just having one member pick the Day film, but then a few of you guys mentioned it’d be way more intense if the first five people to jump in got to suggest movies, followed by a vote to pick the winner. So, in my second-to-last post, I told you guys I'm down with that change, and once we wrap up "Seven Deadly Sins," I'll officially bake that rule into the setup and that'll be that.

I spent a few days drafting up some rules before finally launching this thread.

I am talking about this specific thread—this Weekly film concept—which you hadn't even planned out.

And now, somehow, it's become unnecessarily convoluted.

It should have been kept simple. For instance, one member suggests a Movie to watch and discuss within a week, then that person picks the next member to choose the following selection.

No voting, no bells and whistles. The whole point is to get people to sit down and watch something they otherwise wouldn't—something they might overlook or avoid because of a certain director, a specific era, or just general hesitation.

Furthermore, wouldn't it be more effective if there was an element of surprise? Ideally, the person choosing would pick something they consider high quality that most of the group hasn't actually seen yet.

And now, honestly, it’s just become unnecessarily messy and overcomplicated.

It really should have been kept super simple, right? Like, one person picks a Movie to watch and discuss within a week, and then after that week is up, they get to pick the next person to choose the next flick.

No voting, no bells and whistles, nothing! Isn't the whole point just to get people to watch stuff they wouldn't normally check out? You know, because they either wouldn't think of it, or maybe they usually dodge certain directors, countries, or time periods?

Also, wouldn't it be way cooler if there were some surprises involved? Like, the person picking the movie intentionally chooses something they think is great but most people haven't seen yet?

😲

Are you actually messing with me right now? Like, do you even read what you're typing?

When I first kicked off this thread, I clearly laid out the rules: one person posts a Movie, and whoever is fastest at midnight gets to claim it—and that’s still exactly how the rules stand.

I mean, yeah, I did mention once that things were getting a bit too complicated with all the suggestions, but I eventually caved and said, "Fine, if the majority wants to vote, let's go with that."

As for that last part—man, that was my original vision all along! I'm telling you again, one person posts, and which Movie they pick is totally up to them. But then a bunch of people chimed in saying that was boring and that voting adds its own kind of charm and excitement.

From the very jump, I designed this thread to be incredibly straightforward. Here were the original rules:

- Post the title of the Movie that will be the Weekly film
- The Weekly film is posted every Friday at midnight (00:00h)
- Once you've posted a Movie, you can't post again until 30 days have passed.

Three whole pages and you guys still haven't even settled on the what, the how, or the when...
When are we actually going to start seeing some real movie commentary? 😁

cosmiclynx57 said:This last bit—look, I intended it that way. I’m just repeating myself here: one person posts a suggestion, they decide what movie goes on, and that’s their prerogative. But then a handful of users chimed in to say that was a waste of time, arguing that actually holding a vote has its own charm and makes things a lot more exciting.

And that’s precisely where things fall apart. You give in far too easily, and once you do, the entire situation inevitably devolves into exactly what we see here.
One really ought to ask the moderator to scrub all this garbage from the board or at least move it over to the chat section. But then again, I won't be the one to do it; after all, I wasn't the one who started this thread in the first place.

The Weekly film is scheduled to be released every Friday at midnight.

Why on earth would it have to be midnight? It’s more than sufficient for the uploader to simply know which day they intend to drop a Movie. It isn't as if the world is going to stop spinning if someone decides to upload at noon instead of the stroke of midnight. I truly fail to grasp where this obsession with a precise, synchronized hour even comes from.

The individual responsible for uploading the movie has forfeited their right to post again immediately; they are now subject to the thirty-day waiting period.

That shouldn't pose much of an issue, provided we operate under the assumption that a month consists of exactly four weeks. 🙂

What do you mean three pages? I haven't even hit a page and a half yet.

When are you lot actually going to start reviewing movies? 😁

A valid question, I suppose.

The answer: once we finally wrap up all these endless debates regarding the main topic.

Important Update:

So, I just had a quick chat with the mod and we’re getting everything squared away.

I'm going to stick to the exact same rules we used before, and then we can finally put this whole thing to rest.

Honestly, enough with the constant negotiating, because this thread is turning into a total circus. It’s gonna work just like the "Day film" thread—I'll drop the intro post and the ground rules, and if you dig it, awesome, but if not... well, I can't make everyone happy, right?

Hopefully, we can get this all sorted out tonight.

The end.

So, I was wondering, did we ever get a new Weekly film thread where goldenhound32 shared that movie À la folie... pas du tout? I can't seem to find it anywhere, and I have to say, I finally watched it... it was absolutely brilliant!
