MS Word 2007 formula help?

Alright, so here’s the deal... I’ve gotta whip up this budget report for my college course, and honestly? It needs to look absolutely killer. Like, professional-grade sleek.
The headache starts when I try to mess with the formulas—specifically dealing with fractions and square roots. I can't seem to put anything in the numerator, denominator, or under a radical into an exponent or an index without everything breaking...
For example, imagine I need it to show a squared sigma under a square root, with some extra variables or numbers hanging out next to the sigma...
I tried the whole copy-paste workaround, but the software just won't let me do it. It's totally blocking me! :S
I am seriously about to lose my mind here. If anyone knows a workaround or a fix, please, help a guy out. Thanks! 😁

I went through the exact same struggle, but then I finally figured out how the logic works. You go to "Insert" —> "Equation" (click on the "pi" symbol —> now all the options for fractions, exponents, roots, Sigmas, integrals, and all that other math junk will pop up). Pick "Fraction," for example (which opens up the specific types of fractions you want), select the first one (the one with a square in the numerator and a square in the denominator), and it writes itself right onto the page. Then, you highlight the little square in the numerator, go back up to the fraction/exponent/root menu, and swap it out—like putting a radical where that square used to be. Once that radical appears, you can highlight *that* and pick another option from the top bar (like adding an exponent inside the root). It sounds like a massive hassle, but trust me, once you stare at it for five minutes, it clicks. Let me know if that works for you.

So, I finally realized you're trying to type out math formulas in Microsoft Word 7
And I thought I already covered this. You want that exponent sitting right under the square root symbol, right? Let me walk you through it again. Look, go to "Insert," then find the "Equation" button—the one with the Pi symbol. That opens up a whole menu with fractions, radicals, exponents, integrals, and all that good stuff. Pick the radical option, and a few different types of roots will pop up; just grab the first one. Once that root appears on your screen, click inside the tiny little box tucked under the radical—it should highlight when you hover over it—and then use the superscript tool from the top menu to set your power. After that, you'll have three little boxes under the root to fill in whatever numbers you need. It works pretty much the same way for any formula you can dream up. Just read through my previous instructions carefully and follow them step-by-step. Let me know if it works!

Not sure if I’m in the right place... but Word 2007 is acting up. Instead of math formulas in my study guide, I'm just getting a bunch of weird symbols. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance..🙂
