So, when it hits 59 degrees Fahrenheit, I am basically drowning in the cold. I was dressed in a full tracksuit, wearing long-sleeved shirts underneath, socks, sneakers—I didn't have any skin exposed at all, no bare midriff or anything, just completely bundled up. And yet, I managed to last "only" three minutes before my husband told me to get inside because my face was already turning blue. My lips and fingernails turn blue and I start shaking uncontrollably... even my teeth start chattering. And we are talking about 59 degrees here...

Why is this happening? What am I supposed to do?

I have never been a warm person my entire life, and I honestly don't understand people who claim they can't sleep because it's 104 degrees outside, but I'm starting to think this cyanosis might not be quite normal... 😕

Could you be dealing with some thyroid issues?

I have hypothyroidism, and whenever my hormone levels are off, I become incredibly sensitive to the cold. Last winter, I was constantly shivering and freezing; even when the thermostat was set to a reasonable 65 degrees in the evening, I’d be buried under two heavy blankets just to stop my hands and feet from feeling like ice blocks. 😢
It seemed to hit me even harder whenever I was exhausted, hungry, or dealing with PMS.

I’ve been using my heavy winter duvet even through the summer months 😢 😁

Now I’ve got that plus two extra throw blankets layered on top. And winter hasn't even arrived yet 🙂

Is it possible it's just my metabolism?

My stitching feels fine, at least it did about six months ago.

I had my period just a few days ago, so that isn't the issue.

Lately, I've been sleeping under two blankets and a comforter, even though back in the summer I could get by with just a single light blanket and a quilt. And of course, I can never seem to get my socks to stay on my feet...

I feel exactly the same way🙂

The second there’s even a slight chill in the air, I’m basically an ice cube😢
My peripheral circulation—specifically my hands and feet—is just terrible. Seriously, today I’ve already got four layers of clothing on... It’s a bit ridiculous, really. And honestly, I have this frustrating issue where if it gets too cold, I freeze, but then once we hit those summer temperatures of 90 degrees or higher, I’m absolutely sweltering
It’s almost as if my body’s internal insulation is completely broken; I’m constantly either overheating or freezing up

Sure, I can manage to warm myself up a bit if I push through a workout, but that relief is incredibly short-lived before I start shivering all over again

Other than that, my health is mostly fine. My blood pressure tends to run a little low, though my doctor says it isn't really something to worry about🤔

It feels like I’m dealing with some kind of freakish, abnormal winter chill myself—I actually start shivering when it hits 70 degrees... 😬
Apparently, it’s just my anemia playing nice with low blood pressure; my thyroid seems to be functioning perfectly fine, though. 🤷

The second the temperature dips even a little, I'm basically a popsicle.😢

It’s like my internal thermostat is totally broken—I’m either overheating or freezing up.

Sure, I warm up for a bit if I hit the gym, but that barely lasts before I'm shivering again.

Health-wise, everything is pretty much fine. My blood pressure runs a little low, but my doctor says it's nothing to worry about.🤔

Total mood... I feel exactly the same way!🙄

It’s the exact same story over here 😍

I’ve honestly just accepted that I’m perpetually freezing. Right now, I’m sleeping under a heavy duvet, wrapped in thick blankets, wearing two layers of shirts, pants, and even socks
and mind you, winter hasn't even officially hit the States yet 🙄
My lips are constantly turning blue

My thyroid levels are fine, but my blood pressure is bottoming out

Apparently, mine is due to anemia paired with low blood pressure, though my thyroid is perfectly fine. 🤷

brightotter21 said:I second all of that... I'm experiencing the exact same thing. 🙄

My lips are frequently turning blue.

My thyroid levels are normal, but my blood pressure is quite low.

Ladies, all I can say is that I truly understand how you feel. 😢

Even today, whenever I shake hands with clients or business partners, they all give me these looks because of how cold my hands are. 🤷
My fingers are absolutely ice-cold... I actually ended up ordering tea, which is something I usually only do when I'm feeling sick. 🤣

It seems like low blood pressure is definitely the culprit here. And honestly, anemia could be a factor too.

Well, I believe I have finally pinpointed the root of my issue... everything I’ve been experiencing seems to stem from two common denominators—anemia and low blood pressure. That must be it...👍

Just to be safe, I’d go ahead and get your thyroid levels checked... you mentioned the last time you had those tested was six months ago...
I deal with feeling cold all the time myself, and I actually have some minor thyroid issues... plus my blood pressure tends to run low... but honestly, it hasn't reached anything extreme just yet.🙂

I have been someone who is perpetually cold for as long as I can remember... even with the heater running, my hands stay chilled. I sleep under several blankets, and when I am awake, I almost always have one wrapped around me.🤷 I also struggle with low blood pressure. I mentioned my thyroid concerns to my primary care physician during a recent visit regarding some allergies, and after a quick exam, she assured me everything seems fine.

Honestly, I can relate. I deal with low blood pressure, occasional anemia, and seasonal allergies myself, which makes things tricky.
Generally speaking, I tend to tire out pretty quickly.

But when it comes to staying warm during the winter months, I’ve found my own little remedy: a brisk walk, a hearty meal, and a glass of wine.🙂 It always seems to get my circulation moving again.😬

I’ve been feeling pretty chilled lately too, though it seems to mostly hit me in the mornings. The central heating hasn't kicked in yet, and it was only about 46 degrees when I woke up today. It gets a bit warmer once the sun is actually out, but I guess... maybe they really should have turned the heat on by now, just to take the edge off those early hours.

I’m right there with you.
I’ve been a total winter person for as long as I can remember—to the point where you might actually catch me sitting on a beach in thick socks. Between my low blood pressure and a few pesky allergies, everyone in my life has just accepted by now that I’m a bit of an outlier who refuses to step out of long sleeves.

+ pollen allergy.
I had some bloodwork done, but apparently, I am NOT anemic. 🤷

I had my blood drawn, but apparently I'M NOT anemic... 🤷

How did your doctor decide it wasn't your thyroid just by feeling your neck?
It seems much safer to just give you a referral for a full exam so she can be absolutely certain...🤷
It could be anything from anemia (which isn't the case for you), exhaustion, thyroid issues, poor circulation, general hormonal chaos, or even just PMS...

Last summer, when it was 85 degrees at night, I was actually sleeping under a heavy comforter and a blanket, and once my doctor heard about that, she immediately sent me in for thyroid tests. Luckily everything turned out fine, it was just that my body was totally run down, so I was feeling a bit chilled...😬
Nowadays, I only really feel it during my period...

My lips turn blue quite regularly.

My thyroid seems fine, but my blood pressure is low.

Exactly the same situation; my blood pressure is perfectly normal.

I recently had extensive hormone testing because of birth control, and everything came back clear.

Even during the summer, I spend most of my time tucked under a comforter. 😁
I actually thrive when it hits 86 degrees.

Anything below 77 feels uncomfortable. 😢

I quit smoking, but nothing changed.

I suspect it's just how I am wired.

Cardio helps warm me up, but the effect is fleeting.
