Best movies set in 1950s, 60s, and 70s America?

Hey everyone, I’m obsessed with movies set in those small-town American settings from back in the day. You know the vibe—the whole town basically revolves around one local diner or tavern where everybody hangs out, and that's where all the drama or action actually goes down. The genre can be anything, really. I'm even into the 40s, though I prefer seeing Life in the North or just peaceful everyday life rather than constant war stories. If anyone has some solid recommendations, I would be more than grateful! Cheers 🙂

Back to the Future

And you could always check out Life in the North. It isn't set in those decades, per se, but since they’re cut off from the rest of the world, everything feels like it's stuck in that era—everything just looks perfectly idyllic.

I’m having a hard time tracking down those movies, even though I know there must be millions of them out there somewhere, haha.

That’s not quite what she was asking for. 😁 Honestly, your best bet is to use the IMDb advanced search to track down exactly the kind of movies you're after. Most of them fall under the drama genre anyway. I don't really care about the release year, though I definitely have a soft spot for films that capture life in small-town America today.
For instance, if you want a solid movie about an aging farmer, check out That Evening Sun (2009).
