I need to see a urologist for an exam, and I’m a bit confused about the workflow. Do I need to head to the clinic first to get on the schedule, or should I go to my primary care physician first to grab a referral? It’s been a while since I’ve had to navigate the healthcare system, and I keep hearing people mention that you can just book directly through your GP...

Head to your primary care physician first. They'll give you the referral for the specialist.

So, if I grab a referral from my doctor, can I just swing by any urologist whenever I have a free moment? Like, if they’ve extended their hours, can I just pick any specialist on the schedule?

I'm really hoping to knock everything out in a single visit so I don't have to keep making trips back and forth to the clinic...

Honestly, it doesn't even matter which hospital you pick, it all comes down to which urologist you actually end up seeing
