I was so wasted before the show started that I didn't even realize I was actually chatting with the drummer, even though he told me he was from New York and was wearing all that makeup...

I had an absolutely wonderful time! It was truly such a joy to see them perform live👍

They are hands down my favorite band, but man, that show was a total disaster. Sadly 😢

So, their new album dropped a few days ago... though honestly, they don't even sound like the Misfits anymore, more like Black Flag...

It’s pretty miserable; at certain points, they actually start sounding like some mediocre metal band...

Anyway, the album is just awful. It isn't the Misfits anymore. I can tolerate Graves, but what he's doing here is truly subpar... I was actually holding out hope that after more than ten years, they might find some fresh inspiration... but nothing from that. It seems like they just want to squeeze out a few more bucks before they kick the bucket...

Right now, the album is the top-selling punk record on Amazon... it's almost impossible to find a way to download it illegally 😬 and even if you could, it probably isn't worth the data usage, even if you have an unlimited plan 😉

I don't quite see eye to eye with you there (personally, I actually dig the Graves era more than Danzig... they felt more my style, plus Graves has such a killer stage presence, even if they were undeniably at their peak with Danzig) regarding them just chasing a paycheck before they go. Honestly, I think Jerry genuinely loves this stuff and puts in the work because he enjoys it (I feel like money stopped being the motivator a long time ago, if it ever was)... but I do agree the album is pretty bad. Like a buddy of mine put it, it sounds like some random band trying to play horror punk, and they aren't exactly killing it...
The album has a couple of decent tracks, but overall it's just boring, one-note, and honestly kind of sad to see a legendary name and a band this powerful produce something so weak.
Though, I have to say, the cover art is delicious... I personally think it's awesome!

I think he was talking about the band members themselves, you know, like the current lineup, rather than how they actually sound.
If we’re looking at it from a musical standpoint, there isn't even a hint of Black Flag in there... they're playing totally different subgenres.

Look, I checked the wiki 🙂 and I don't think that's their drummer—I'm a guitarist myself. As for genres, easy call. I dig Black Flag and the Misfits, but once they had Danzig, things just lost that edge. Honestly, even Danzig's stuff doesn't really hit the spot for me anymore.

I don't really keep up with all those member updates...
Genre-wise, I’ve always been a sucker for that early California HC punk scene. I think the Misfits are awesome, especially back when they had Graves, and then obviously with Danzig. I haven't really connected with their later stuff, though... maybe I just need to give Danzig's solo work a few more listens to see if it grows on me!

Nah, I don't really follow them anymore—but hey, I actually gave a new track a spin on YouTube, and... no comment. Personally, I still think early California HC/punk is some of the best stuff out there, back before everything turned into that slimy pop-punk sound.

Pop punk doesn't even exist XD I refuse to accept it as a legitimate genre... it’s a walking contradiction... an absolute oxymoron!
Look, it's worth giving the new album at least one listen, just so you know what we're dealing with... I'm going to try to get through a few listens myself, maybe something will actually stick...

Just gonna resurrect this thread for a second. I’m spinning Walk Among Us right now—easily one of the best albums ever made. Seriously, "Skulls" and "Astrobum" are absolute perfection. The whole record just flows so flawlessly it's unreal. I honestly can't wrap my head around why Only gets the treatment they do instead of this.

It's just Danzig for me.

I totally get it—I can't wrap my head around why Danzig does what he does either. But hey, whatever works.

In my book, Graves is an incredible vocalist. Right up there with Danzig. Plus, he actually wrote some pretty solid stuff on American Psycho and Famous Monsters.

That said, Static Age and Walk Among US? Those are absolute genre classics, no question about it.

The Misfits today? They don't have anything to do with the old crew. Then again, most of those old rockers these days aren't exactly cutting it anymore either.

Danzig started this whole new project with some guys, but look, just because he did that doesn't mean his recent albums aren't complete trash. That’s two different things. This new stuff? It’s basically a zombie act, and honestly, it’s butchering a legendary legacy that could have stayed pure and untouched
