I actually find that subforum pretty pleasant. I haven't noticed much of that militant attitude, especially since the mods have done a great job cleaning things up. Remember when the admins banned all those threads about historical political factions and civil war eras? 😁

And look, they exist... but it’s not that PDFs are inherently built that way; it's just that certain individuals make them that way.

Though, if you ask me, anyone who hangs out on forums like this is a bit of a psycho. The mere fact that someone chooses to communicate virtually with a massive crowd... well, most people in my real life find it pretty bizarre 👎 when I mention I read something on a forum, even though I occasionally find genuinely useful information there.

Fine, maybe I lean too heavily on other people's opinions. Perhaps the people around me are just "old school," using the internet strictly for Word, gaming, or Facebook—which everyone uses nowadays because it's popular, not because they care about virtual socializing...
So... I don't know if I'm the psycho, or if it's the others, or the ones who don't use the net at all. It's hard to tell.

Oh, I should also add that the tech support/IT subforums seem to be where the least "psycho" users hang out. But then again, those folks are in their element, so it's no surprise they spend more time online and here. People like them have been doing this for twenty years. 😁

I actually quite like this subforum. I haven't really noticed much militancy from the crowd here; if anything, the mods have done a great job keeping things sanitized and civil. There was even a period where the admin banned anyone from starting threads about those old-school political factions and historical militias. It keeps the peace, I guess. 😁

Just because they’re staying quiet doesn't mean there isn't a whole lot of noise going on inside their heads. Silence isn't always empty space; sometimes it's just a calculated pause. 😉

Honestly, you don't see many dedicated trolls posting that much volume. It’s mostly just clones. It’s that classic "fake it 'til you make it" mentality—just noise to create an illusion of activity. I actually feel a bit bad for the people spinning up burner accounts just to feel like they belong and have something to say. It really says a lot about the mental state of the people hanging out on this forum.

I don't know, I spent years on Lies, posting thousands of times under this exact same handle—the one my boyfriend and all my friends have known me by forever. Then, maybe a year or two ago, I just got bored. It was the same recycled topics over and over again, filled with the same handful of people (most of whom I found pretty dull) and a massive sea of random nobodies and clones; so, I just moved on.
Besides, a lot of what they talk about on Lies—specifically the stuff I actually care about, unlike the constant bootlicking or the endless obsession with teenage dick sizes—is covered on other subforums like USA, ZUD, and especially ZK. The crowd there is completely different, and the whole vibe is totally different too.
I get the feeling that Lies is just one of those subforums that most long-term users eventually outgrow...
Either that, or they just start cloning themselves 🤷 but honestly, screw that. 😉
