Complaints like these are honestly the best sign that we’re heading in the right direction 😍

This used to be a place for good-natured ribbing where someone might occasionally get called out, but it was always done to keep the atmosphere fun.
Now we've reached a point where you have to triple-check how you respond to someone just so you don't accidentally hurt their feelings.
I actually got a warning the other day under the guise of trolling, simply because I responded a bit more sharply to a thread—and when you ask which part was trolling, you aren't even supposed to get an answer anymore, which is just absurd.
Please... if I ever start whining, I'll head over to Reddit or some psychology sub.
Most of the regulars still show up, and personally, I can't even remember posting anywhere else since I joined LJES—well, not until recently... but ever since this new batch of moderators arrived and started enforcing these rules, everyone has just scattered.
You're destroying our forum
Sorry, should I send over the new moderators' resumes right now, or would you rather wait a bit? ☕
It used to be a place for high-quality banter, but back then, you weren't even registered yet. 😉
That said, that quality banter was always seasoned by well-structured, constructive topics and thoughtful posts; it was never just mindless noise for its own sake.
The old crowd is mostly gone now, and the current group has firmly established itself. 😁
Which whining are you talking about? LJES has always stood apart from the US, but that doesn't mean it should become a mindless echo chamber. 🤷

Those are the people who leave a few constructive posts only to see them get lost in a sea of nonsense, so they stop participating altogether. This board is moving toward attracting the constructive types again (who, when they do joke around, tend to be much sharper and more intelligent than those who only care about being loud), and those of you who just want a playground can take your "good-natured ribbing" to a chat room or some other off-topic thread.
You wouldn't believe how exhausting it is for a huge number of people to read what you consider "good-natured ribbing." And for the record, the moderators aren't here for you; they're here to moderate.
I don't have anything to add to this,
hollowmason64I think I've said more than enough already; we don't exactly owe anyone an explanation here.
Look, it’s pretty straightforward—you either write if you actually like the PDF, or you don't. It's really as simple as that.
hollowmason64 said:@eleuthera, I’m not really going to get into an argument about why you don't like my feedback regarding your post length. You aren't exactly the first person I've had to tell this to, and honestly, I don't see what the big deal is in just asking if you could keep things a bit more concise.
Unless your ego just can't handle the fact that we aren't all falling into a trance whenever you decide to drop a half-page manifesto quoting ten different posts across every single thread on the forum.
I don't really want to drag this whole thing out here; I just want us to reach some kind of middle ground regarding how much tolerance we're willing to show toward my favorite PDF.
There’s really no limit on how much you want to write here; we only step in to penalize those short, low-effort troll posts. 😉
If you think those massive, rambling essays from people like Eleutherini are just too much "philosophy" for your taste...😬Just because you feel that way doesn't mean you have to force it on everyone else or act like you're looking down on us. If people are getting on your nerves, that’s fine—just walk away.
You know, when you're scrolling through the forums, there are those moments where you just want to drop a single, sharp sentence to cut right through a mountain of bad logic in a massive thread, though other times you find yourself wanting to sit down and really unpack your thoughts in detail.
Even here, you're still doing it.
It’s always funny how quickly people pivot to ad hominem attacks the second they run out of actual arguments. And she's back at it again, getting herself tangled up in those personal jabs; her ego—or rather, how she perceives it—isn't really the point here.
You aren't going to get a compromise that involves rolling up our sleeves just to watch LJES go down the drain; honestly, I think we’ve been way too soft on them rather than being too harsh. 😉
wiredfalcon2 said:Honestly, I'm just going to sit tight and wait until I can clear out those mindless posts myself.
But then you'd miss out on a chance to have some real fun, wouldn't you? Don't be like that. 😁
hollowmason64 said:Could you please ask the mods that if they're ever asked to bold a specific part of my posts—the parts where I'm supposedly in the wrong—to actually go ahead and do it? Like I mentioned before, even if it’s for no other reason than to make sure I don't end up repeating myself.
You know, it’s incredibly grating when you actually take the time to ask someone for a bit of clarity, only to have them completely shut you down or brush you off with some dismissive, "because I said so" nonsense.
Here she goes again... an admin beat me to this thread and actually agreed with my estimate after seeing that flagged post, so what else could you possibly need from me?
I don't really see the point in arguing against
blatant, obvious insults that you can spot from a mile away. I just wanted to clarify that part of my policy involves cracking down on those passive-aggressive, thinly veiled insults too; things get murky with those types of posts, and if I don't step in, someone else might be way more lenient than I am, so I figured I'd just lay out how I handle things.

Lješ has honestly been sliding lately—you can count the smart, productive threads on one hand these days. It’s definitely seen better days. Sure, people mess around and poke fun at each other (and I know I go a little overboard myself sometimes), but this place used to host such great discussions and actually teach you something... lately, it feels like it's just trolls starting threads just so we can make fun of them.
I'm genuinely hoping these stricter rules actually pay off and help raise the bar for how we talk to each other here on LjES, even if it means I end up catching a warning or a penalty once in a while.
Finally, someone who actually gets it.🙂
