Seriously though, how can anyone claim this is the absolute best festival in the whole country this year?
Is that a better way to put it?

Yeah. 🙂

I mean, how is that even hard to wrap your head around? Everyone has their own specific taste in music! 😁

Robin Booth said:Wait, hold on, are they actually asking for an index number when you buy tickets, or is that just some weird glitch?

Because my index isn't updated yet, though I do have my Social Security number ready.😬

I'm really crossing my fingers that they don't need an index number, since mine is still being processed and I absolutely have to get these tickets by the 17th!😁

Larry Cooper40 said:If it were just solo shows from The Flaming Lips or Broken Social Scene, I’d probably just drive out to Austin or somewhere else within a reasonable day's haul... they absolutely kill it live... I've always been curious about how LCD Soundsystem translates to a live setting too... I've seen and heard Massive Attack, but who knows, maybe again... I missed Flogging Molly, though apparently, you really have to be there to get it...
Billy Idol was actually pretty cool back in the day, but honestly, it feels like every single festival has to dig up some relic from the mothballs these days...
The only ones that don't feel totally stale or overhyped to me are Rise Against...

All things considered, it's a pretty solid lineup so far, and for the $83 I'm paying for a ticket, it seems like a decent enough investment...

But hey, that's just my take, and I totally get it if these bands or this whole vibe mean absolutely nothing to someone else... 🙂

Well, thanks for that 😁
I feel the same way; I’d rather head to a better festival in somewhere like Nashville or even fly out to Vegas or New Orleans instead.
But yeah, that's where we're at.

PS, is the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival really any better than, say, Lollapalooza or Coachella? Isn't it basically the same circuit?

me too, either hitting up New York City or just tossing some cash at a trip to Austria or Canada for a better fest.
so there you go.

PS is Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival actually better than say, Lollapalooza or Austin City Limits? Same vibe?

...organization-wise and length, probably not, but right now the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup beats both Lollapalooza and ACL... ACL is looking almost strictly electronic so far, and at Lollapalooza I only care about three bands, one of which is playing in NYC🙂

and looking at it from a travel perspective, isn't it awesome when The Flaming Lips come to my neck of the woods? 😁
plus, obviously you're gonna travel to whichever one has more bands you actually like 🙂 ...as simple as that...

Good grief, I don't have the patience to sift through all this right now. 😳
Are those camping $60 actually an extra charge on top of the ticket price, or am I misreading this? 😬

Robin Booth said:Wait, are they actually asking for an ID when buying a ticket, or does just showing a driver's license work?

Because my student ID isn't current, though I do have my driver's license.😬

I'll give you mine. 🤣

If you ask me, the absolute pinnacle of music festivals in the country has to be Lollapalooza, and that is final.

Paul Davis51 said:Wait, what are we even talking about when it comes to those camping gear setups? Honestly, some of those camper kits out there are just... well, you know! Are they actually functional, or are they just taking up space in the back of your SUV? I feel like every time I see one of those massive, over-the-top RV setups, I can't help but wonder—is anyone actually enjoying the actual outdoors, or are they just trying to bring their entire living room into the middle of the woods? It’s such a funny thing to think about, right? Some people want the rugged, minimalist life—just a tent and a sleeping bag—while others want enough amenities to make a Hilton look basic! Where do you guys stand on this? Are you all about that high-tech, heavy-duty gear, or are you keeping it simple? $60 So, just to be totally clear—is there an extra fee on top of the ticket price, or what? Like, am I looking at hidden service charges or some kind of surprise add-on once I actually go to buy it? Anyone know?

Yeah, honestly... :/

Arthur Anderson75 said:Look, hey, everyone’s got their own thing when it comes to music—I totally get that! But honestly? It feels like the folks running the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival haven't actually shown us a single shred of a real vision yet... blah, blah, blah.

Don't you feel like it’s always the exact same crowd showing up to celebrate? I mean, seriously—what are you even talking about? Didn't they pull off the most insanely diverse, genre-bending lineup at Coachella last year?!
So, this year’s lineup is leaning heavily into that indie vibe again, babe! Of course, there are a few outliers that don't quite fit the aesthetic—like seeing Billy Idol pop up out of nowhere—but like someone already mentioned, they're clearly just trying to play to everyone's tastes, whether those tastes actually match or not! 😬

Since it looks like we're getting into this—and honestly, where else are we going to go?—I’ve been thinking about how everything is shifting lately. It’s kind of wild, isn't it? When you really stop to look at what's happening, you realize just how much has changed! So, they finally dropped the lineup for Lollapalooza! Honestly, I’ve been staring at this list for way too long now—can you believe how massive it's looking? It feels like everything we were hoping for is actually happening. I mean, who else could pull off a lineup this wild? Is anyone else feeling just as hyped as I am right now? It’s going to be absolutely legendary!I mean, obviously Coachella is the better choice here—no contest! But hey, it’s still way too early to call it, right? Besides, let's be real, Lollapalooza is usually leagues ahead of anything else in the area anyway...

Oh man, you just can't beat The Flaming Lips - Silver Trembling Hands! Seriously, is there anything else quite like them? Just absolute perfection. 😍

Yeah, and thanks so much for all the support! XD Shoutout to revolution909 and everyone else out there—you guys are the best! LOL

The Flaming Lips😍

society is just broken <3

plus, it would be a blast dancing to White Wedding with a grungy Billy Idol.

honestly, if they actually booked The Chemical Brothers, I’d never complain about the festival lineup in America ever again.

Honestly, The Flaming Lips are the reason I finally pulled the trigger on this ticket. I was really on the fence at first—especially after they announced BSS and Massive Attack—but once they added this to the lineup, I was definitely in. 🙏

Billy Idol😍

Just a heads-up for anyone who hasn't seen this yet: you can head over to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival website and vote for the bands that signed up. There are 121 groups from all over the US and the surrounding areas, and the top 30 with the most votes move on to the second round. You might want to check out the list—who knows, you might actually stumble upon a band you like.😁

That said, if a band is sitting on very few votes and you're really pulling for them, I doubt much will change by tomorrow... personally, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Blek Sten😂 (they've got 14 votes😢 and a great singer😍)

👍 I'm totally with you there!

Honestly, looking at the lineup they've dropped for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival so far, I'm pretty digging it, but I can't help feeling like it's missing just one more heavy hitter—just one more band to really push it over the edge and make me feel 100% satisfied with the whole thing. :P

boldbadger18 said:👍 I agree!

I’m already liking the lineup they’ve released, though I think I’d need just one more band added to be 100% satisfied. :P

They’ll probably drop a massive list of great acts right at the end when ticket prices have peaked, just to maximize their profits.🤣
They aren't exactly foolish. 😁
