Elvis Presley, Rage Against the Machine, and Muse—honestly, that lineup is simply too good to pass up. Where is everyone traveling from, and are you all planning on staying for the full festival? Also, does anyone have a rough estimate of how much cash I should set aside? Are you all driving or flying?

Man, what a lineup. It’s such a massive shame I won't be there, even if the venue is a bit of a trek from where I am—and don't even get me started on those ticket prices, because honestly, it's enough to make you weep 😁
damn, the odds of me actually making it are basically zero!

Look, two of us are coming from Chicago and a friend is driving up from San Diego. Tickets are about $185, which honestly isn't bad considering the lineup and the fact that it’s a four-day festival now instead of three—plus, that covers the camping too. Isn't that a steal for these kinds of headliners?

We're currently rounding up a group to head out together, so we might just rent a large van or something depending on how many people actually commit...

We're coming from all over (Chicago, maybe some suburbs) 😛 and yeah, we're doing the full run. We aren't crazy enough to drive all that way just to leave halfway through, haha.
As for the money, the ticket and parking are already covered... that's about it. I suppose we should probably stock up on food for four days and drinks for ten 🙂 since everything at festivals is incredibly overpriced; it doesn't make sense to buy stuff there, though I guess once you're a few drinks in, you end up buying rounds for everyone anyway. 😁 But regarding food, we'll try to avoid buying it on-site. 🙂 For now, we're thinking of driving, though it's just an idea. It would be great if we could all pile into a van if enough people join up... that's what my crew did when we went to Lollapalooza last year, and it was pretty good. 🙂 But honestly, Rest in Peace definitely has a better lineup this year!
So come on, people, show a little enthusiasm. Who's actually coming?? 🙂

Man, I’m so jealous. I went to Lollapalooza back in 2005—it had basically the exact same lineup, just flipped around so everyone could play both shows—and it was hands down the best time of my life! I spent a ridiculous amount of money, but honestly, I don't regret a single cent. It was definitely the most legendary festival in the US during that era. And you know, maybe someone will end up buying you a drink; people can be so generous. I remember this one guy, I think he was from Poland, who literally scooped handfuls of grass out of a bag and handed it to us! 🤣

There is zero chance I’m gonna scrape together $600 by then. And even if some miracle happens and I actually have the cash, I still couldn't go because my finals will be hitting right at that time 🙂

I am absolutely determined to see Rage Against the Machine live, and honestly, the idea of catching Muse, Alice in Chains, and Motörhead all in one go would be incredible. My main hurdles right now are just my bank account and a few upcoming exams, but what’s truly killing me is the anticipation—I am dying to know when they finally announce the Coachella headliners. Since I live right near the festival grounds, if they pull off a lineup like this, I'll be there in a heartbeat.

Does anyone happen to know when Coachella is dropping the headliner announcement?

I can't imagine spending that much up there, haha. I shelled out 170 bucks for my ticket, and I'll probably bring maybe that much extra for spending money. As for food, we'll just act like cheapskates and pack our own from home.😁

Besides, you always find some cheerful group at festivals who end up buying rounds for everyone else, haha.👍

And Rage Against the Machine is one of the main reasons I'm going; I am definitely not missing them!!
By the way, I have no idea about Coachella...

Honestly, festivals like Coachella are just turning into giant commercial machines lately, basically playing whatever garbage is currently topping the MTV charts. Looking at those headliners who are essentially destined for a Rest in Peace status, maybe someone like Mick Jagger could pull a set there, but who actually knows anymore?

And suddenly you all decide to show up. A few weeks ago, tickets were easily $20 cheaper.

Well, we were looking at things and... I don't know, we hadn't really finalized everything yet back then..

And you can bet your life those ticket prices are just going to keep climbing higher...

Anyone know if there's actually a chance to grab tickets at the gate, or is it a total waste of gas to even show up without one? Asking because my husband and I were planning on going, but with the kids, we can't really commit until the absolute last second. Just don't want us getting our hopes up if it's not an option...

I suppose I don't know about the Rest in Peace show, but last year at Lollapalooza, people were buying from resellers at the very last second, though it was all pretty sketchy. When we actually arrived at the venue, things settled down; there weren't really any shady characters around or any real chance to snag tickets, at least as far as I can tell..
