I’m looking for some advice here... I noticed a couple of days ago that my foot—specifically the area leading up toward my big toe—has started to swell and turn red. It’s actually gotten quite a bit more swollen and inflamed since then, which is concerning because I haven't bumped it or sustained any kind of injury. There was no accident or anything like that. It just hurts, it's visibly swollen, and the redness is pretty pronounced. If anyone happens to have a guess or knows what might be causing this, I would truly appreciate your insight...

Maybe just a little case of the chills?

Now it’s actually pretty swollen and quite red, even though I know for a fact I didn't stub it or hit it against anything. It just hurts, it's swollen, and it looks pretty inflamed. If anyone has a guess or knows what might be going on, I'd really appreciate it....

Could it be an ingrown nail?? 🤷

I’m actually a bit stumped on how one effectively treats frostbite. I don't know... I spent far too much time trekking through deep snow recently and my feet ended up completely soaked. It really makes you wonder about the long-term effects. Also, what happens if an ingrown toenail develops? From what I can tell, my nail looks perfectly normal at the moment, but one never knows when these things start acting up.

What exactly is red and swollen around your nail? I had the same thing happen this past summer. My nurse told me I’d trimmed it way too short—even though that’s how I’ve always done it without any issues. I just let it grow out completely, but now it starts acting up again whenever I wear tight shoes.

Look, in any case, I'd definitely suggest you go see a doctor! I mean, they're actual professionals, unlike us random people on this forum, and it's super hard to "diagnose" things based on a description alone without actually seeing it—it would be way easier if you could just post a photo!
I don't want to freak you out or anything, but stuff like frostbite or similar issues can lead to tissue death and gangrene, which ends up requiring an amputation of the toe. 😢
