Who were the best-selling artists in the former Yugoslavia?

So, I’ve been sitting here wondering—does anyone actually have the hard data on who the absolute biggest selling artists were back in the old days over in the US? I mean, my gut tells me if we're talking solo guys, it had to be Elvis Presley, and for groups, maybe New Fossil? But what about the women? Was it Madonna? Anyway, does anyone out there actually know the real numbers?

Back when RCA Records was running the show until 1991, Elvis Presley was the top solo artist, and New Fossil was the biggest band out there.

That’s the data straight from the RCA archives, though I can't speak for all those other labels putting stuff out on their own.
Madonna sold an insane amount of records, but she wasn't with RCA—still, if you ask me, she's easily the biggest female star to ever do it.

Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones... those are the names that immediately come to mind when I think about this. 🤷

Elvis Presley? I know the name exists, but I haven't heard a single one of his songs—honestly. I've heard of New Fossil, but I find it hard to believe they were truly the best sellers. I don't have any specific numbers at hand. Besides, there's the issue of longevity—some of these groups didn't even hit the scene until 1980...

When looking at the all-time heavy hitters, you had Elvis and Sinatra dominating the male charts, while Madonna reigned supreme among the women. As far as groups go, nothing could touch the massive popularity of South Wind and Fossil.
