Issues installing Assassin's Creed III

I'm running out of places to turn. I tried reaching out to Electronic Arts Support, but they're sluggish and basically ghosting me. Their forums haven't been any help either, so I'm trying my luck here. I recently picked up Assassin's Creed III on PC via Steam. Everything runs fine during the initial setup until it tries to install Easy Anti-Cheat, at which point I hit this error: http://prntscr.com/4fmsya . If I click okay, the installer keeps going until it hits about 5-6%, then triggers another error http://prntscr.com/4fmtha and just dies completely. I attempted to install Easy Anti-Cheat manually, but Assassin's Creed III doesn't even show up in the list of games. All Electronic Arts Support gave me was a link to the Easy Anti-Cheat site telling me to follow their instructions, which obviously does nothing. If anyone actually knows how to fix this, let me know.

Maybe try a fresh download. If that doesn't work, maybe Electronic Arts can point you toward a different link...

I’ve redownloaded this four times now. Nothing works. I've already sent several messages to Electronic Arts Support, but they haven't bothered to reply in over five days.

Just report the bug to Steam and let them deal with the headache. Either they fix it or you get your money back 🤷
