I’m with you, Joe. I actually just finished putting together an article—basically a primer on Formula E—and I honestly think this series is going to be something special...

On another note, what a waste of a perfect race by Prost. He drove like a complete professor, absolutely flawless, and then he goes and pulls a stunt like that... such a senseless mistake.
Though, if you look at it from a certain angle, this might just breed even more tension and rivalry moving forward.

And let’s talk about that first weekend: a total disaster for e-dams. ABT has carved out a nice little lead over them now, so things are definitely going to get interesting.

We just witnessed some legendary moments.

Our grandkids are gonna be arguing about this stuff on forums fifty years from now

I have this nagging memory of reading it somewhere, and since the race is next weekend, it would be pretty wild to see them competing on the same side of the garage. 😁

Now, the big question is how they’re going to penalize Prost. There’s already talk about a one-race ban, which—if you ask me—is total overkill. Sure, he messed up, but a ten-place penalty or making him start from the back should be plenty.

Regardless, no matter how "ugly" that finish was, it’s basically served as a massive spotlight. Everyone and their mother is going to be talking about how this race ended for weeks.

I am totally digging this whole street racing concept.

It basically brings the race directly to the fans. Honestly, expecting people to trek out to some remote track while everything is still in its infancy would be delusional

But if you bring the action right to their doorstep? Then you’ve got an audience.

They basically ripped the playbook from IndyCar—and let me tell you, that exact move is what saved IndyCar from going extinct.

It’s a relief that Nick Heidfeld didn't end up like Greg Moore during that crash at Fontana 1999 !!!!

I mean, it turns out Alain Prost was just mad at Senna because Senna ended up stealing his wife!😲

Heidfeld hit the wall at like 45mph, while Greg Moore was doing 230mph

The impact looked almost identical, sure, but the forces involved were easily 50 times weaker in Heidfeld's case

Off to an awesome start. Honestly, I didn't think I'd be this hyped for the next race—not even in my wildest dreams.

I used to get that same feeling about F1 way back when...

Because there's zero doubt here about intention or who did what... it's crystal clear that Prost did this on purpose.

You're being way too harsh. It's just a racing incident—there's no reason to punish him.

Especially since it happened practically on the last corner of the final lap. You gotta let that slide.

Save the penalties for the kamikazes who smash into everyone at Turn 1 on the first lap.

I’m with Joe on this one; everyone has become way too obsessed with being "good" and "moral" in racing.
The whole uproar over this is just because of the end result, which was Heidfeld flying into the barrier.
If it weren't for those sausage kerbs (which are a complete nuisance and I don't know why they even bother using them when there are better ways to handle this), this would have ended with nothing more than broken suspension.
As it stands, it looked pretty horrific and dangerous, though looking at the footage, the main chassis is practically untouched while the safety components did their job and stopped the car.

Here is what Nick Heidfeld said:

"No, it's not inexperience. Prost got the pole position, he led all the race, he did not want to lose it in the last corner.....It was not inexperience.... It's racing."

Things happen. Prost made a mistake, and I don't think anyone is actually disputing that, but people are sensationalizing it for all the wrong reasons.
If you watch the video, Prost clearly looks to the right, sees nobody is there, and then swerves left; he simply executed the move to close the line too late.
I personally don't see any need for a ban, but we'll see how it plays out...
