So, I noticed my lips were absolutely trashed this past Saturday πŸ™„ I’d been out all day, just getting blasted by the wind, and everything was stingingβ€”my lips, the skin around them, the whole deal. They even swelled up a bit 😲 And because I’m an idiot, I didn't bring any Chapstick with me, and I couldn't exactly run out to grab some until Monday. By Monday, things were looking pretty grim. I immediately went out and bought some ointment and I've been slathering it on constantly. Now, the area around my mouth is bright red, though thank God the lips themselves feel a little better, they don't sting as much and look okayish. But there are these tiny, microscopic red bumps that you can only see if you're practically pressed up against a mirror... and whenever I apply the ointment, it basically turns into water right above my lip line. Not to mention how much it itches 😲😲 (I heard somewhere that if it itches, it means it's healing? Is that true?) Anyway, the skin around it has started to get all flaky and peel 😒 Just my luck...

So now I'm wondering... does it actually make sense to keep obsessively applying this ointment... or should I just head to a CVS and pick up some actual medicated cream or something?? 😲

My dear, based on everything I’ve been reading here, it sounds like you’re dealing with a cold sore... and honestly, using any kind of lip balm or even just some random brand like labelo is only going to make things worse. You should really head down to a CVS or Walgreens and pick up some Abreva ointment; if you start using it now, it should clear up in just a few days 😘

mistyseal28 said:Look, honey, from everything I’m reading here, it sounds like you’ve definitely come down with a case of herpes. Honestly, using some random lip balm or any other Labelo stuff is just going to make the whole situation way worse. You should just head over to a CVS or Walgreens and grab some Herplex ointment; that should clear things up in a few days.😘

I mean, isn't herpes basically just like any other little sore or skin lesion? 😲

Hmm... even if we're talking about herpes, you can totally spread it from one spot to another just by touching it, so yeah, that's definitely a thing.

I went through the exact same thing onceβ€”as soon as you mentioned that sensation of it turning into liquid and how everyone seems to catch it instantly, I immediately thought of that... has it started looking like tiny little blisters yet?

If someone else touches the area where it's broken outβ€”even just through a kissβ€”it spreads incredibly easily... so please, just be careful with that and maybe hold off on the kissing for a little while...πŸ™‚

Nah, there aren't even any blisters or anything... it’s just that one patch looks a bit reddish and darker than the rest of my face.. but there's nothing there besides what I'd call tiny little breakouts, though they aren't really pimples, just these microscopic dots that you can't even see unless you're practically pressed up against the mirrorπŸ™‚

As soon as I wash off the ointment, I find myself rinsing with clean lukewarm water every thirty minutes or so.. my lips and that whole area get so incredibly dry.. which is why I was totally convinced it was just the wind and the cold... like my lips were just completely dehydrated from the weather😒

hmmm... now, don't go getting all worked up about itβ€”it might just be some trivial reaction to the cold snap, especially since your lips seem to be quite sensitive... if you just keep applying that ointment, it'll probably clear right up in a few days 😘

Honestly, from here on out, I’m just grabbing ten more Labelos... one for every single purse and every jacket I own 😒

Please, give me a break. It’s not herpes. You're just having a reaction because you were probably licking your lips to stop them from cracking since you didn't have any Vaseline on hand.
Honestly, my personal discovery is that Vaseline has this addictive quality to itβ€”once you start using it, you're hooked and constantly reaching for it. It's the gold standard.πŸ‘

Balms are life πŸ™‚

... and seriously, quit washing your face every twenty minutes
