Movies with creepy soundtracks and vibes

I'm not sure if this topic has already been covered—I didn't really feel like digging through everything—but I've always been fascinated by that specific heavy, spooky atmosphere in certain films. It’s those movies where the vibe itself is more unsettling than the actual plot...

A few examples: Jaws, Escape from New York, Alien (that damn deep space...), and then of course the entire horror genre...

Anyway, I think there's something interesting here, so there you go.

I can't quite shake this "psychedelic" piece of music from Planet of the Apes starring Charlton Heston. It’s that specific track right at the beginning—you know, during the intro when their spacecraft crashes onto the planet and they start exploring the surroundings? I’m not entirely sure why, but even now, just thinking about those opening notes gives me actual chills. 😁

I honestly still can't wrap my head around how incredible this piece is—it’s just pure, unadulterated classic perfection. If we're talking top tier, I'd also throw >, > (which is fun but deeply unsettling), and Nosferatu into the mix. I'll probably think of more later, but > remains my absolute number one.🙏

Mulholland Drive, and honestly, pretty much almost all of Lynch's movies.

Pet Sematary... I still get the chills every single time I see it... and honestly, that music at the beginning is the absolute scariest part.😱

2001: A Space Odyssey—that moment they stumble upon the monolith on the moon, accompanied by music so haunting you’d swear a ghost was about to leap right out of the screen.

Personally, I think the spooky music from Requiem for a Dream hits hard. 😱

We also gotta talk about freddy-iev's lullaby. 😱

And honestly, Tubular Bells is alright—it doesn't give me that same creeping sense of dread as the others mentioned above. 😈

The Thing, without a shadow of a doubt

Man, about ten years ago I remember watching this documentary on PBS called "Great Crime of the 20th Century," and man, that soundtrack was just... unsettling. It had this massive orchestral feel, but those violins would just cut right through you—it was like they were scoring pure psychosis and dread straight to your bones. It scare a shit out of me😱
