I think it’s about time the administration took a closer look at the moderator Justin Foster45 over on the FBI forums.

I realize you’re short-staffed on moderators and could probably use all the help you can get, but her blatant malice during discussions is starting to cross a line. I really believe someone needs to address this.

The latest instance, which honestly got under my skin enough to make me speak up, was how she completely twisted my words just to have an excuse to insult me.

If you actually follow the thread, it’s incredibly obvious that I didn't say what she claims I said.

When random users insult me, I don't mind much. But when moderators do it—acting so flippantly without actually reading or understanding the context (or perhaps intentionally ignoring the point of the debate, which is arguably worse)—that’s a different story. I understand there’s a distinction between being a regular user and being a moderator, and that mods are allowed to participate in debates like everyone else, but I highly doubt it's truly possible to keep those two roles entirely separate.

A while back, I already raised concerns about her habit of handing out bans and labeling people as trolls. Unfortunately, her personal grudge against me has only intensified.

A few weeks ago, I pushed back against the mocking and insulting of children on certain threads on the FBI boards. In response, a group of women, including Justin Foster45, mocked me, called me a "moralizer," and tried to convince me that it’s perfectly fine—to go around calling out and insulting kids whose photos are posted online.

For some reason, that kind of behavior has become accepted as normal on the FBI forums. Personally, I don't think it's right, and it shouldn't be.

On top of that, aside from this specific incident, the FBI forums have turned into a mess of endless, disorganized threads about everything under the sun. That's just how moderation is going lately. If a moderator's role is to insult people rather than actually moderate, then you probably don't need them there in the first place.

You're missing one detail—Justin Foster45 isn't actually a moderator on the main site..

I didn't overlook it. The FBI includes the Chicken Coop too. It’s been such a mess there over the last few weeks that you can barely tell which topic is being discussed where. A little bit here on the Chicken Coop, a little bit there on the FBI. (I mean, if everything is allowed everywhere and it's all the same, what's actually the point of having separate subforums and topics?)

Besides, she had to get her act together somehow. Her moderating at the Chicken Coop isn't isolated from how she behaves on the FBI.

The reason I reacted just now is simply because I reached my limit, which is why I decided to start this thread.

Yeah, I mean, I’m just saying—looking at this latest example—she was basically just talking to you like any other random person on a message board, since she doesn't actually have any authority on the subject or anything.

That’s true. But when a bunch of random users start insulting and calling you out for something you didn't even do—and then a moderator, someone you'd expect to at least pay closer attention to the conversation, does the exact same thing—it can be a bit frustrating.

It is what it is. I guess we all have our limits.

(Though I still maintain that the moderation on the FBI and Chicken Coop is subpar. From the constant mixing of topics and debates to the kind of stuff allowed on those influencer pages, and how everything gets blurred together everywhere else.)

Justin Foster45 doesn't moderate the FBI, and honestly, what she wrote to you was just her speaking as a regular forum user.
I don't see how she insulted you, especially when you’re pointing to this post where you call her a chicken with no common sense.
Why didn't you link the specific post where Justin Foster45 supposedly insulted you? I’m looking, but I can't find it anywhere.🤷

As for her misinterpreting your post, from everything I've read in the thread, most people felt the exact same way.🤷>
You have to face the fact that the impression you leave with your posts isn't always the one you intended to make.

Now, look, I don't moderate threads over at the Chicken Coop, but regarding your ban, it's completely fair because you were totally trolling the discussions there.
You showed up to lecture influencers about how forum users write, rather than actually talking about the influencers themselves, which was the whole point.
If you find something questionable in their posts, just hit the report button and move on. If you don't like the vibe, stop reading the thread.

I linked my reaction, which includes her specific reply.

It's insulting to me that she suggested I might actually view that girl as some sort of flirt.

A lot of others repeated that insult before her. Honestly, I'd had enough of her. That's why I reacted.

That’s why there was—and always will be—a follow-up discussion. But the follow-up turned into personal attacks against me. It probably would have kept going if I hadn't finally spoken up.

I could say I spent several times trying to patiently explain what was going on and why I posted that photo. A few people got it, but most just kept insulting me. That included the moderator.

I didn't. Where are you getting that from? I have never once left a single comment on an influencer's page in my life. Why make things up like that?

I don't usually report posts. As you can see, I haven't done so now, either. I have pretty thick skin, so I can handle plenty of insults, bullying, being called names, and all sorts of other nonsense I've seen there—though I probably missed some because I just skip over certain users. I also don't have much interest in tattling, and given the atmosphere there, I doubt it would do any good anyway. What's the point of reporting posts when the moderation is automatically on the side of those doing the insulting?

If you guys, after three years of seeing these threads about influencers, haven't realized that mocking the photos of children (and others) online is disgusting, what kind of reaction am I even supposed to expect if I do report a post? Or are you going to pretend you've never seen anything and that everything there is just idyllic?

If my memory serves, this kind of behavior existed long before the influencers. I think there were those "picture books" or something similar where people were also tearing apart the appearance of other people's babies and kids.

Ultimately, from the way you write here, I get a very clear sense of the administrator's stance on the situation at the FBI. You clearly believe everything there is fine and nothing needs to change.

And, by the way, arguing with moderators via private messages never yields results.

When things truly become too much, I use other available tools. Like opening this thread.

I don't read the thread. I have zero interest in what's being written there. I just took a glance here and there, and if it weren't for the blatant sadism and enjoyment of putting others down on almost every single page, it might not even bother me. The problem is that this behavior has spilled over into other threads precisely because things aren't moderated there; instead, everything is just debated everywhere.

That's why I made the objection.

And, just so we can continue this discussion, I'd appreciate it if we focused on the moderation at the FBI rather than on me. I'm just a side character here.

* A trivial example is this exact case that started yesterday when I posted that photo. I knew I had left a post a few days ago about how Facebook research showed the harm of social media, but I first had to go hunting for where I'd left it just so it would be in the same thread. Though neither of these really fall into the category of classic posts like we used to see on Mystery.

I apologize for hijacking this thread, but honestly, they really ought to work on separating topics once it becomes obvious that a discussion has gained momentum and there's genuine interest.

They should have done that with the issue regarding Thompson's roof, and now they're doing it again with the clinic.

Walking through Trac, USA Today, Trac, USA Today... you can't even tell what you're writing anymore; it makes zero sense. It's a shame.

(And I know it isn't just because of Justin Foster45)

So, speaking of moderation, here’s a current example...

Right now, over on one of the Chicken Coop threads, there's a discussion about a child suicide and what role the parents played in it. Honestly, it's like people think a parent who goes through something like that won't spend every single morning for the rest of their life wondering if they could have done something differently, or if they're somehow responsible for their child taking their own life. As if they won't question their own actions ten billion times over. No! Apparently, what they really need is a bunch of rude anonymous internet users—people who don't have the slightest clue about their actual lives beyond their own projections and some second-hand info—to lecture them and debate whether they were good parents or how they caused their own child's death. It's just absolute nonsense.

When this kind of thing was breaking a few years ago on Trac, I was being shamelessly insensitive and talking trash until the chickens finally shut up. But no. Here we go again. Let's get back to dissecting everything the parents did wrong.

* And yes, I'm using the word "chickens," because if you're callous enough to discuss a topic like this in such a way, then calling you a "chicken" is actually a compliment compared to what you deserve.

If justice actually existed, you wouldn't even be posting on the FBI forums anymore. One of those mobs—that’s the only word for them—spent days trying to convince me I was mentally unstable or intellectually deficient just because my facts didn't suit their narrative. Of course, I provided arguments and evidence; I was right. But once that became undeniable, they just kept whining about how "boring" I was being by sticking to the topic. How lovely. As if I were the one who started it.

The moderator publicly stated she felt bad that I felt attacked, yet claimed it was my own fault for persisting after being "given explanations."
No... I was the one providing the explanation, not the group attacking me.

And then I got hit with a ban, along with some lecture about how I write too much and "need to take a break."

Honestly, I can't believe someone like you has the nerve to moralize anything on this forum. You are nothing more than a bottom-tier internet bully—and you get away with it because the moderation at the FBI lacks both the will and the desire to actually figure out who is right and who is systematically harassing whom. They ignore the difference between bullies and people making documented, reasoned posts... posts that, quite frankly, match the official rulings and reports now being published by the courts and major news outlets.

Justice is always hard to come by right when you actually need it, isn't it? 😢

No, you're mistaken. We weren't trying to say you were mentally ill; we were simply pointing out that you were wrong—which you were then, and still are. I suppose the sheer persistence you showed while trying to prove otherwise is exactly why we concluded there might be some intellectual shortcomings there. I still feel that way, honestly.

No. You were just digging your heels in. Everyone else tried to point out where you were going wrong, but I guess people eventually reached their limit with how stubbornly you refused to see the flaws in your logic. They didn't have much choice left but to either ignore you or call you incompetent. It was pretty much the only option left.

Thanks.

I might actually have to start keeping a log of the insults I get on here. There are some interesting examples.

But you're still wrong. I guess that's just how life goes.

Again, I’d appreciate it if we could move the focus away from me (though I sincerely thank you for yet another insult) and discuss the moderation on the FBI.

I agree with you. USA Today is open specifically for these kinds of topics—things that stir up the public for a few days before fading away. The idea was to "lighten the load" on Gossip. Of course, people still rush to post everywhere, and I can't be on the forum 24/7. So unfortunately, the same topic develops in two places, and if I merge them, the posts get all tangled because they were being written simultaneously, creating a total mess.
Regarding the clinic, I figured the discussion on Gossip would just die out on its own, so I decided to let it be.

I have to correct you there, but the point of a moderator in the Chicken Coop isn't to weigh evidence or decide who's telling the truth. My job is to keep the tone civil and handle technical issues.

Do you honestly think I should be the one deciding if someone is on team Andre Agassi or team Milan, whether Šuputič's husband has a kid, or if the woman from ENI had Milanović's child? And then only allow "the right people" to post based on that?

This is a forum. The name literally tells you—it's for discussion.

As for Jacko—I didn't message you as a moderator, nor did I insult you. I simply repeated what you had already said.

Justin Foster45 said:I agree with you.

Maybe this would sound plausible to you if you hadn't publicly claimed that people were "explaining" things to me nicely, while I stubbornly refused to accept their points—which, let's be honest, consisted mostly of emojis and insults.

Official documents aren't a matter of debate; they are accepted facts. Because if we refuse to acknowledge official records that someone has explained ten times over—down to every single digit and parenthesis—then what exactly counts as an argument??

The truth is, nobody has "explained" anything to me except for actual government institutions. If a mountain of people chooses to fall for a pile of fabricated texts, lies, and half-truths just because they believe certain headlines... that's not my problem.

You've positioned yourself as a moderator who polices insults, yet refuses to look at the merits. That doesn't stop you from concluding that people were trying to explain things to me—and that they lost their cool because I was being unyielding.

If someone on Trac decides tomorrow that Andre Agassi is forty years old, will you finally acknowledge the original birth certificate that proves otherwise—the one our government swears is authentic? Or will you let people keep insisting he's forty and that everything about him has been a lie... all while calling anyone who shows them the birth certificate a stubborn, annoying fool?

I honestly think they’re doing a decent enough job. The only thing I've caught them doing is making fun of guys for their height, which really isn't what a mod should be focusing on.

Like you said, the insults got removed. But wanting me to punish anyone who disagrees with you? That's a whole different story.

The way you handled this topic was basically:
- give me proof/explain yourself.
So people go into great detail to explain.
Then you ask the EXACT same questions and they answer again. Then you ask for the same things all over again. That’s what trolling looks like.

If someone on Trac eventually proves that Andre Agassi is forty years old, will you finally accept the original birth certificate the government claims is authentic? Or will you let people keep saying he's forty and that everything about him has been a lie, while calling anyone who shows them the birth certificate a stubborn, annoying fool?

Have you never followed the debates regarding Nikolin Pišek's birth year? 😬

Ar is just the chemical symbol for argon.

If you had just taken two seconds to look it up, you wouldn't be sending people to a psychiatric ward or calling them stubborn idiots.
That’s really all there was to it. It had nothing to do with Nikolin Pišek or Andre Agassi. You clearly weren't paying attention.

Wait... you have to be joking... me trolling?... I posted official documents and explained what every single number meant while others were arguing without a shred of evidence, just repeating lies from some reporter in Split. There was even that ridiculous claim made by the guy who opened this thread after twenty questions—he actually suggested that a number is what it is not because someone measured it and recorded it in books, but because people supposedly "agreed" on it.
As if people just "agree" on how many square feet a building has... imagine that.🤣

Have you been following any of this?... I even asked you privately back then to just get into the spirit of the debate, but nothing.

By what logic did you decide those people were right, especially when you claim your job isn't to judge the merits of the situation?... Where did you get the idea that those thirty people were correct?... Simply because there were more of them?

And then you claim your job is to maintain decent communication.
Clearly, in this instance, besides that job, you've formed your own judgment on the merits, repeated it, and now you're accusing me of trolling... this is becoming unbearable.

Folks... three days ago, all the documents were out and everything was crystal clear.

Now we have at least three denials that the media was finally forced to publish because they've hit a wall and have nothing left to say... they were lying and making things up, one after another.
