Hi everyone,
I had my very first ultrasound when I was about 6 weeks along (though based on my last period, my doctor calculates it as week 9).
The doctor confirmed the pregnancy, but couldn't see a heartbeat yet, and gave me this diagnosis:
"Gestational sac present without embryonic cardiac activity; CRL = 5mm, corresponding to 6 weeks. Adnexa clear; no findings in the Pouch of Douglas."
He scheduled me for a follow-up in just one week, saying that by then, we should be able to hear the heart beating.
Fast forward one week later: I’m now at 7 weeks (which is technically week 10 + 2 weeks according to the doctor's math from my last period), and I received the exact same diagnosis as the week before:
"Gestational sac present without embryonic cardiac activity; CRL = 5mm; no findings in the Pouch of Douglas."
And now, he's recommending a D&C.
I was wondering if anyone here has gone through something similar? Is there any hope that everything might still turn out okay and that I can avoid the procedure?
Thanks so much in advance.
