Which PSU should I buy?

So, I went ahead and grabbed this Mission Q 400 w power supply—and realized, oops, it doesn't actually have the pin needed for my GPU, whether that's a 4 or 8-pin version. What's the move here? (I'm clearly a genius because I totally forgot to check the specs before buying)..

Right, you have the 4-pin for the CPU, but you really need to make sure you have one with 6 pins as well.

It’s definitely doable, but could you grab a few clear photos of all the connectors first? You likely already have the specific cable needed for the GPU, you just might not recognize it at a glance. If you take a look at the image right where it labels the PCIe section:

The GPU takes either a 1x6 or a 1x8 connector; there's no such thing as a 1x4...

If that graphics card needs an extra 75w via a 6-pin or 8-pin connector and this unit is bottom-of-the-barrel quality... don't even try to hook it up!!!

Hey there, could you please let us know which graphics card and processor you're actually using? It would be great if you could give us a bit more detail about your components rather than just these short bursts of info, so we can actually provide some meaningful advice.😬

My budget option is the MS industrial Platinum 400 V2, which realistically puts out about 250W, though that's really only enough to run a Celeron with its iGPU, a single 2.5" drive, and a satellite card. Interestingly enough, it still includes a 4+4 connector for the CPU and a 6+2 connector for the GPU.

So, we'll be waiting to hear back from you.

Right now I'm just stuck with the iGPU Veg 8—not ideal, I guess—but I'm planning to pick up something like an RX580 or maybe a GTX 1050/1060 down the road.

Manufacturers explicitly state that SATA isn't meant for risers or GPUs. 😁

What's your take on this, mirit, and what makes you say that? I mean, how much power the PSU draws really depends on whatever load it's handling at the moment. If we want a legitimate test of the power supply and its actual efficiency, I guess you really need a constant load to properly compare the input against the output.
