😁

Well, that guy over at the DNC mentioned he snagged it for a total steal, which is honestly the only reason I even clocked it... otherwise, it probably would have flown right under my radar. 🙂 My only real hang-up is that 24-month warranty period, because it feels a bit sketchy when you're used to seeing a solid 5 years as the standard. -.-

Micro Center is actually pretty incredible when they run those big sales events, especially when I start thinking back to that Air Force One mouse I picked up for $100 😁...

Aha... yeah, sometimes the good deals just find their way to you. 🙂

I was just looking at Dell. Looking at Dell. And the warranty is actually sixty months... those 24 months they mention at Amazon? Probably just some internal gimmick of theirs. :/

Actually, that's not quite right because they're sourcing from Sysco, and those guys provide a full 24-month warranty. 🙂 But honestly, that’s beside the point...

Just ditch that VX model entirely—you'll save about $150 on it—and grab this one instead... I mean, what are you even waiting for? $67 It’s just better. 🙂 🙂

Word on the street is that it's actually quieter than both the DNC 910 and the original powerhouse, mostly because it features a much more dampened, whisper-quiet vent. 🙂

So, I’m sitting here weighing my options... should I sell it or not? It’s out of warranty, which isn't ideal, but maybe I can still squeeze some decent cash out of it. :/

This Boeing 747 is seriously tempting... and man, I have such a soft spot for it. Seriously. 😁

Besides, my new beast from California arrives next week, so I’ll be totally set. Heh.

Whatever. I'll just head over to Dell and ask if they even have it in stock. 🙂

Whoa, now that is one seriously impressive refrigerator. I wonder how much cash you’re going to drop on it? Are we talking around $167 or maybe even upwards of 🙂?

It really would be a shame to pass up an opportunity like this, especially since $217 instead of $383 represents such a fantastic deal. 🙂 ... and honestly, my wallet is feeling a little thin right now, particularly since nobody seems interested in buying my Walker. 😁 Man, money just seems to vanish so quickly during the Christmas season...

It’s going right out the window... now I’m just stuck waiting for my paycheck to drop so I can finally grab that GPU. 😁

The Carrier unit is going to run me about $600 including shipping... but we'll see what kind of headache I deal with at customs. 😁

Not even holding my breath for a sale price, haha.

Honestly, everything would be so much easier if the folks over at Dell actually picked up the phone once in a while. :/

Well, look what finally showed up on my doorstep—the saw is here! 🙂 It actually comes with a 60-month warranty, though I have a sneaking suspicion the website might have had a little typo regarding the details... 🙂

Fantastic... 🙂

A little review wouldn't hurt, right? Just for the sake of heaven, if you get a chance, let us know your first impressions and how it actually performs in the field 🙂

I won't be getting mine until after the 5th...

I don’t have an oscilloscope on hand, nor do I have a wattmeter... which means 😁 But, if I can manage to borrow a wattmeter and if I don't end up selling my old Walker too soon, I might actually be able to put something together for you all.

Anyway, those folks over at Amazon are acting pretty strange lately, honestly... they sent over the power supplies in nothing but the original retail packaging without even bothering to toss them into a shipping box. They just slapped tape all over half the carton, right over the serial numbers... but oh well, I suppose there's no point in splitting hairs over every little thing. 🙂

At first glance, I'd say the box itself weighs well over ten pounds... I'm still here struggling to peel everything open since they taped it up so aggressively.... 😁

What an absolute shocker. I plugged the power supply in and hit the switch, and then—Boom! The breaker tripped and one of my fuses just blew right out of nowhere.

It actually started up fine later on, though. Man, what a headache, but honestly, my Walker is way quieter than this thing ever was....

I'll try to write something more coherent tomorrow when I've had a chance to process everything.

By the way, if you're planning on grabbing a new power supply, you might want to hurry, because I checked in with Sysco about their stock and they mentioned they ran a massive Christmas sale with 50% off and sold out of basically everything—all they have left is whatever random stuff happens to be sitting on the shelves right now.

Adding one more to the list above. My power supply:
Logan i-Xeye 420W

Picked this up at Amazon a few years back...

I really don't see it happening that way... 😁

Oh, and just as a quick little side note for anyone interested, my XFX 850W power supply is sitting right at 12.26V whether I'm just idling or pushing it under full load 🙂

Is this an answer meant for me or what...? If it is, could I get some clarification?

Hey, you. 🙂

That review is five years old now, and honestly, I don't think Thomas Martin4 is really providing much of a reliable perspective here... It's just that your Logan isn't quite up to the standard required to make it onto a list like this in the first place...

That review is five years old, and Thomas Martin4 isn't exactly an authority here. Your Logan gear just isn't high enough quality to make the cut.

Then who is? What criteria are you even using to judge power supply quality?

Well, I always say you really have to lean on the professional reviews for this kind of thing, because at the end of the day, the absolute baseline requirement is that the efficiency stays north of 80%...

If you're looking for some top-tier sites that do an incredible job testing power supplies, I've put together a little list for you here:

I've scoured all these forums, and there’s only one single mention of a review for this power supply, but the link just hits me with a 404 Not Found error...

Do you have an actual, legitimate review where I can see those results? From what I can tell, there are basically zero reviews on these sites for any power supplies under 600W.

Look, I get it—price doesn't always equal quality. But it makes no sense to me why a 420W unit priced at $233 can't be classified as a high-quality component. That's exactly why I need to see a real review.

Do you happen to have a specific review where I can actually see those results? From what I can tell—and I might be mistaken—there is practically zero coverage on these sites regarding power supplies under 600W.

I understand that a higher price tag doesn't automatically guarantee superior quality—that goes without saying. However, I find myself struggling to wrap my head around why a single 420W power supply would cost... $233 I wouldn't exactly go so far as to call this one a top-tier power supply—it just doesn't quite hit that premium tier. Because of that uncertainty, I suppose I’d really like to see a proper, detailed review before making any moves.

Based on what I can gather from Thomas Martin4's review, the efficiency never actually breaks the 80% mark—which, I suppose, is one of the primary benchmarks for calling a power supply truly high-quality. Of course, you also have to weigh other factors, like the voltage stability that Shelby was bragging about regarding his new favorite piece of gear a few posts back. 😉 😍

But honestly, from what I see, none of them ever topped 80% efficiency. Only one single unit managed to cross that 80% threshold in one out of the three tests, and even then, it was barely scraping by. 🤷

That data is from five years ago. Maybe the efficiency standards were lower back then, but nowadays—if we're talking about any decent, high-quality power supply—80% is pretty much the bare minimum requirement.
