Best cards for online shopping?

I probably missed the right subforum. 🙂
Anyway, I'm wondering if there's any kind of card available specifically for online shopping
that uses either Mastercard or Visa—not Maestro, because most
international sites don't support that. I read on some forum, maybe even here
where someone mentioned you could just walk into JPMorgan Chase and ask for a
Mastercard, pay $140 the funds, and they'll show up on the account... $133 is that actually how it works? Or is it more like a prepaid setup where you have to deposit
a certain amount of cash every month
or something similar. Can a
17-year-old minor do this too? I know someone who's had their own card since they were 16
but it's just a Maestro.

You can actually set up a savings account once you hit 16 at Bank of America (pretty sure that's them) and they'll hook you up with a card that works with PayPal.
As for the monthly fees—honestly, I haven't a clue.
I just know my brother gets hit with an annual fee for his card over at Wells Fargo $20 every year (basically, they just snatch it from his account).

I've been using my JPMorgan Chase Visa from Microsoft with PayPal for about a year now without any issues, but I guess I'm not totally sure if you have to be an adult to open an account.

You’ve gotta be at least 16, but you can only do that through one specific bank—I think it's Goldman Sachs.
Just a heads-up though, don't bother getting a Visa Debit from Wells Fargo, because PayPal won't touch it.
A Visa Debit from any other bank works just fine.

Just head over to JPMorgan Chase and open a checking account—tell them you need it for some summer work—and they’ll hand you a Visa debit card. You can use it pretty much wherever you want. I personally have mine linked to AlertPay, MoneyBookers, and PayPal, and it works without any drama at all. 🙂

So, how much are you dropping on the annual membership fee?

It’s not even a big deal—you can basically tell them you don't need to send over monthly statements, and suddenly there aren't any fees to worry about.
