Hey everyone, I could really use a little guidance here.
I’m looking to pick up a crossbow. Nothing fancy or high-end—definitely not looking for any carbon fiber, Kevlar, or titanium nonsense. Just something basic and budget-friendly. Is there anyone in this group who actually does this as a hobby or even just shoots recreationally?
It’s purely for fun, mostly just hitting targets out in the woods. Based on my username, you can probably guess what I’m into, so I’m not really a gun nut or a hunter. Fishing is a whole different beast; you have to get down in their world if you want to catch them while staying alive, if you know what I mean.
Any help would be awesome. I'll likely have a few more questions once I get started, so thanks in advance!

Hunter & Co. in Chicago has a solid selection of crossbows ranging from 200-$667 , specifically between 50 and 250 lbs. Go for it! I recently picked up a 150 lb model and I'm quite pleased with it. Just remember, it's a lethal weapon. You need to be careful not to hurt yourself or anyone else; it can punch through a 1.5-inch board from 30 meters away. Imagine what that arrow does to a person at that distance.

Hey there! Does anyone happen to have any insight regarding those Man Kung self-bows? I'm looking at one rated at 150 lbs, and the price tag is sitting at $733 without any optics included. I was wondering if you all think that’s actually a fair deal—basically, does the value you get out of it justify what you're putting in?
