Can someone explain what sinus tachycardia actually is?

So, I just finished wearing one of those Holter monitors, and my results came back showing sinus tachycardia along with some heart palpitations—basically skipped beats... I’m honestly spiraling a bit here. Does anyone actually know how dangerous this is? Like, what does all that medical jargon actually mean for me in plain English?

My heart's racing a bit... but I'm gonna need a few more details before I can really say anything else about what's going on...

If my memory from college serves me—and that was a long time ago—sinus tachycardia just means an accelerated heart rate within a normal rhythm (sinus rhythm). Essentially, the heart is beating faster, but the timing is fine. As for the skipping, those are extrasystoles. They happen frequently and don't necessarily signal a crisis. That said, I'm no cardiologist, so I'll defer to any medical professionals here if I've missed anything.🤷
