Dealing with Impetigo: Best treatments and remedies?

Hey there,
has anyone here dealt with impetigo before? I just finally got over it, but I’m still using some Betrion ointment—got a few scabs left that are just starting to clear up. I was wondering if anyone has tips on skin recovery... basically, how to get things healing faster and smoother? In the spots where the scabs fell off, my skin feels super dry and tight after I wash it, and I've read that it might end up lighter or darker than the rest of my skin... hoping for some good news here! :-) thanks

Honestly, I didn't have much luck with it. My scars actually ended up looking darker than before... just slightly discolored on my face, but way more noticeable on my legs 😢 so now I'm thinking about picking up a specific scar cream to see if that works better. If not, I guess my only real option left is looking into some skin lightening treatments 😢

When you're looking at scarring from impetigo, you have to view it through a similar lens as a second-degree burn.
Generally speaking, the infection itself shouldn't leave permanent scars. What you’re more likely to deal with is hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation—basically skin discoloration—which can hang around for up to a year. Once the inflammation has fully cleared out, you can start using topical treatments to help smooth things over, such as Contractubex or Dermatix.
The golden rule here is to be incredibly disciplined about sun exposure during that first year; either stay out of the sun entirely or make sure you are strictly applying high-SPF sunscreen.

I’m hitting my fifth bout of impetigo in just eighteen months—honestly, I’m about to lose it! Has anyone else dealt with this constant cycle? I’ve been using Betrion, but clearly, it’s not actually clearing the infection if it keeps coming right back!!😠
I already went to see a dermatologist... and everyone keeps pointing the finger at stress. But look, I was stressed before too, and I didn't get this infection then. My immune system is solid and I’m obsessive about hygiene, so what gives?
And... those red scars from a year and a half ago are still hanging around 😢 even though I haven't even been out in the sun.
