Windows 7 transformation packs!

I’ve been getting bombarded lately with all these various transformation packs for Windows Vista, and now that they're starting to trickle out for Windows 7, I find myself wondering if anyone here has actually messed around with them? If you have, I'd love to hear about your experiences—was it worth the hassle, or just another way to break my OS?

I've got Isso pack 5 available for Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Mac OS X Leopard. Even though it's still in beta, it runs flawlessly.

Isso pack 5, which unlike version 4, supports Windows 7 and Mac OS X Leopard in addition to Windows Vista.

So, where on earth can I download that Isso pack 5?

Are you seriously installing a transformation pack to make things look like Windows 7 when Windows 7 isn't even fully out yet?
The folks over at Microsoft haven't even finished polishing the user interface yet—so I mean, how is a transformation pack even supposed to look right? 🤣
Honestly, guys, just hang tight until Windows 7 actually drops, and then maybe consider using a transformation pack.
Man, these packs are already such a buggy mess right now, and Windows Vista is already out and causing issues... just imagine how much of a disaster a pack for Windows 7 would be.

@darkviper7/">@@darkviper7 - Even though Windows 7 is still technically in beta (if I recall correctly), this transformation pack looks and runs surprisingly well given where it is in development.
Once they actually polish Windows 7, we're going to see much better packs hitting the scene.
Besides that, some people are probably just using this pack as a way to get a feel for Windows 7, especially since Isso pack 5 also supports Windows Vista and Mac OS X Leopard.

Just one question... does this Isso pack 5 leave a massive mess behind when you uninstall it? In my experience, I tried using a Trans pack once, and even after deleting it, the icons were still scattered everywhere. Half the system looked exactly the same despite me changing the theme. Is this Isso pack going to be the same headache or what?

Also, how does Windows actually run on Mac OS X Leopard? I’ve always wanted to give Mac a shot, but I just never had the guts to pull the trigger.😁

I actually managed to transform my Windows Vista setup into Windows 7, so you might want to give that a shot—trying to turn Vista into Mac OS X Leopard.
Just do yourself a favor and create a restore point before you touch anything. If things go sideways, you'll regret it, especially since I'm not entirely sure if Isso pack 5 plays nice with Windows Vista.
(What I did was use Isso pack 4 to install 5; that way I jumped from Windows XP to Windows Vista, and then eventually from Vista over to 7).

If it makes you feel any better, just set up a restore point while you're running the installation.

I've definitely been there myself—skipping the restore point because I was way too confident that nothing would actually go sideways.😁
(That was back when I was downgrading from Windows 7 to Vista)

It didn't really cause me much grief, honestly. For me, I just ended up with bits and pieces left over from that transformation pack. It was sort of a weird hybrid—half normal Windows XP, half Vista😬.
Anyway, I probably won't even get around to trying that program for another month or two... I need to get my files organized on this computer first, and at the rate I'm going, that could take forever😁

I know mine is a total mess because I’ve got way too many programs and all kinds of useless junk running in the background, though I try to clean it up every once in a while.😁
Why on earth would you bother with defragmentation before starting a transformation?

It’s not even that. It’s just that everything on my D drive is a complete disaster right now. Music, photos, random documents... it's all just one big mess. So, I’m thinking about moving everything over to the C drive first, getting it organized there, and then migrating it all back to D once it's actually sorted. That way, if something goes sideways during the process, I haven't lost anything. But at the rate I'm going? Honestly, if I'm lucky, maybe I'll be done in two months 😁. And yeah, I know, I'm being a little paranoid about my files, but whatever 😬

Even if something goes sideways during the conversion process, it won't touch your files.😉 Besides, nothing is going to happen to you anyway, since we aren't even the ones running this thing.
My files were a bit of a mess on my machine too, but everything stays exactly where it was after the transformation. How often do you run disk defragmentation? Doing that might actually help your PC run a little smoother.
(Now that I think about it, I probably should run some defragmentation myself today.😁)
As for being paranoid, well... we all are.😁
I once lost about 40 GB of various files, but that was because of Vista—specifically when I was switching operating systems (downgrading from Vista back to Windows XP) and I was an idiot and installed both XP and Vista on the same partition.😁

If things go sideways and I end up having to format my C: drive, I’m honestly going to lose it. I've got data sitting there—at least until I get everything organized—that I can't afford to lose. So, I'm procrastinating... better safe than sorry 😁. Besides, the computer isn't actually slow; at least, it doesn't feel slow for what I need to do. I haven't even run a defragmentation yet (this is a fresh Windows install, hasn't even been a month 😁). 🙂, but I'll definitely let you know how Leopard is treating me 😍.
