So, I’ve decided to start a thread dedicated to all things apocalyptic. I'm curious to know which movies in this genre actually stuck with you, and more importantly, what should I add to my watchlist if I haven't seen them yet? 😁
I’m sitting here eagerly counting down the days until Terminator 4 and The Road come out.

If I had to pick one film that really left a mark on me, it would have to be 2029—or maybe I got the year wrong, I can't quite remember—but the whole thing takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where five total outcasts happen to cross paths and decide to trek through the ruins together. It’s this incredibly bleak, depressing, and honestly pretty eerie movie that just completely floored me. Back in the day, when I was obsessed with Escape from Los Angeles, this felt like a massive hit, and even looking back now, it’s still worth a watch if you want something to laugh at. Of course, I also have to mention The Day After Tomorrow; that whole simulation of WW3 during the Cold War era was just gripping, especially with that desolate atmosphere and the sheer struggle of people trying to survive in radiation-soaked zones. 😁

Also, while you're at it, could anyone suggest some movies centered on war themes—specifically those "pre-apocalypse" vibes, like a buildup to WW3?

So you’ve got X-Men. It isn't strictly a post-apocalyptic story, per se—but it definitely leans into those themes where war and WWI-style imagery collide with a futuristic setting... plus, since Earth is pretty much a wasteland by then, it definitely hits those apocalyptic notes.

Not a bad flick. Those opening trench scenes are actually really solid.

Anyway, if you want the best post-apocalyptic stuff out there, the Mad Max trilogy is king.

Quiet earth... 🤔

Le Dernier Combat 🙂

Wall-E 😬

The Day After Tomorrow really freaked me out 😱

I haven't seen them yet, but I'm planning to: Six-String Samurai, Noah, and After the End...
