Removing a cast too early

Hey everyone, so here’s the deal... I’ve got my follow-up appointment this Tuesday to finally get this cast taken off, but my birthday is coming up this Saturday. I was thinking about just trying to DIY the whole thing tomorrow—you know, pop the cast off myself so I can actually feel like a normal human being at the party. Is that actually a smart move? Or am I just asking for trouble? Could anything go wrong if I try to handle it on my own?

I really appreciate any advice you guys can give...

Hmm, what’s actually in the cast and how long have you been stuck in it?

It probably wouldn't be a disaster if you actually know how to do it right—but still, give your doctor a call. Don't just wing it without a consultation unless you want them breathing down your neck later.

Besides, what's the big deal with the cast? Everyone can sign it at the party, and honestly, the photos might actually look more interesting that way. 😁

So, here’s the situation: a fractured metacarpal on my right hand... got a splint put on back on September 13th, then finally moved into a full cast by the 24th. Ha. Now I can't even slide my hand through the sleeve of a single jacket. And to make matters worse? Winter is basically knocking on the door tomorrow, and it looks like we're in for nothing but rain and freezing slush...🙂 🙂 🙂

I was wondering if it might be possible for me to remove my cast before my scheduled appointment?
The thing is, I was actually supposed to have it taken off last Friday, but I ended up missing that appointment... so they told me today that it would be removed this coming Friday instead... but, well, as everyone knows, the weather out there is just brutal right now, and since half of my arm is encased in this heavy plaster, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to deal with.
If I were to go ahead and take it off myself, I suppose one wonders what the doctor might say about it?

about my thumb cast
I know they aren't scheduled to take it off for another two days, but I was just wondering... I went ahead and trimmed it halfway down myself, because honestly, they made it way too bulky for just a thumb—it almost reaches my elbow at this point. So, I shortened it and it feels a bit better now... but I guess, what would happen if I just took the whole thing off? They're going to be removing it anyway, so maybe I'm just saving them the trouble
