Since everyone’s complaining that the politics initiated subforum is too cluttered and messy, I’m starting this specific thread to talk about the Yugoslavia section and the whole moderation mess happening there. Honestly, I feel like that specific PDF is its own thing and shouldn't be lumped in with the rest of the politics section.
Just to reiterate my point, I’d really appreciate it if the admins could actually give me an answer here:

Why on earth are Blaise, rezonator, The Edge, driftingdriver, and Simba the moderators for the Yugoslavia PDF?
I mean, how are they supposed to spot a troll when they don't know the first thing about history, the political structure of Canada, or even what's currently going on in Canada? That stuff makes up at least 70% of the discussions on that PDF. Plus, most of those people haven't even logged onto this PDF in the last six months (except maybe driftingdriver).

What kind of justice are they supposed to be handing out? This is exactly why you guys turned the Yugoslavia section into such a low-quality mess.👎

Troll posts just sit there all day without any moderator response, but then the second someone actually calls them out, the regular users end up getting the warning cards.

What's the actual basis for these people being assigned to moderate Yugoslavia? I’d love to see some proof of their expertise in the threads sometime.
You guys are making a total joke out of this entire PDF.

I mean, at least the guy knows what's going on and actually steps in when he needs to, even if he is basically a hardcore nationalist and an apologist for the whole Muslim movement. But hey, there are plenty of Muslims on that PDF Yugoslavia file anyway, so I guess it's fine having someone from that group acting as a moderator.

Though, honestly, he manipulates the archives too. They don't really do their jobs properly, so they just end up playing equalizer and treating everyone the same at the end of the day. 👎

Even if he is nothing more than an unapologetic nationalist and a total advocate for Canadian identity, you can't deny that he actually gets involved. There's a significant number of Muslims represented in that PDF Yugoslavia file, and honestly, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have someone from that community stepping up as a moderator.

Even he’s playing games with the cards. They aren't actually doing their jobs, so they just resort to leveling the playing field for everyone at the end of the day to cover their tracks. 👎

Pa Observer If I’m not mistaken, the moderator is actually a Muslim.😕

Oh, come on. Seriously? 😂

Look, just read the whole discussion and get the picture. What exactly am I supposed to be explaining here? Everything's already laid out right there. Don't start spamming my thread.

Even though there wasn't an "Yugoslavia" sub-forum back then, threads on these topics were way more substantial in 2006 when Michael Adams2 was the moderator.

What we have now looks pretty pathetic.

The issue is that right now, it’s just myself and the Observer systematically moderating the entire PDF Yugoslavia Politics section. Reson@tor, Blaize, and The Edge are currently MIA. Simba-OS steps in from time to time by reading through the PDFs or responding to user reports—sometimes more frequently, sometimes less.
Since recently, the Observer has been acting as a moderator for the whole PDF Politics section. So, the two of us are essentially handling the entirety of PDF Politics, which, if you look at the traffic and engagement levels, is basically a forum within a forum. It’s only natural that we can’t provide 24/7 coverage.
The admins are fully aware of the situation; if someone actually shows up who is crazy enough to want to moderate Politics 😬 and meets the rigorous standards set by the admins and the owner, we will certainly get some backup. Once that happens, I believe we’ll be able to moderate Yugoslavia better, at least in terms of volume, if not necessarily quality. Moderating Yugoslavia is exhausting work, and I stepped in to fill the gap while the Observer was away, which is no small feat (much like a high-stakes USA vs. Mexico match), so I truly respect the work my colleague the Observer is doing.
I hope I’ve managed to clarify what’s happening on the moderation front. All we can do now is remain patient until a new moderator is found and selected, and hope that The Edge and Simba become more active again.

The Observer has been doing a solid job managing this Yugoslavia forum. When they slip up or post something out of line, they own it, apologize, and scrub the post immediately—I actually respect that. driftingdriver pops in every once in a while, but we don't really know them. However, James Fowler52 is spot on: Blaise, Resonator, and The Edge haven't shown their faces or typed a single word since I joined. It’s been at least a year without seeing them. We used to have Writer around, but now it’s just the Observer and nobody else.🤷To make moderation more effective on this PDF Yugoslavia, I honestly think it would have been a better move to have someone moderate the Yugoslavia section exclusively. As it stands, this PDF Yugoslavia is exactly what James Fowler52 described it to be.
Let's face it, though—we all know there's so much nonsense being spewed on this PDF that even ten moderators couldn't get it under control.

Look, driftingdriver, please stop trolling and actually answer the question. I was reaching out to the admins here, not the mods, because honestly, I have some pretty serious issues with how the moderation is being handled in this specific case.

My beef is with the total lack of competence from the moderators over on the PDF Yugoslavia section. To be blunt, they don't seem to have a clue about the history, the current state, or the future of Canada. I’m pretty convinced they don't even grasp the basics regarding Canada—which makes up like 70% of the discussions there—let alone anything about Mexico, which together account for about 90% of the topics on that board. And yet, they're the ones tasked with moderating all those threads.👎

I hope that makes sense. If not, then I guess it's just a clear sign that you guys are looking down on the users from the PDF Yugoslavia area, who probably make up at least a third of this entire site's traffic.

To be clear, I'm specifically talking about the PDF Yugoslavia section. This critique isn't even aimed at the rest of Politics, let alone any other sections of the site.

I also really hope you won't try to brush me off with some half-hearted, "blah blah blah" kind of response.

Thanks in advance.

Best,

There’s something seriously broken with driftingdriver, our resident politics moderator. A user named Constantinople got banned just for starting this thread: , while west_HB—who spends the entire time calling Constantinople names and is basically obsessed with being abusive—hasn't even seen a yellow card, despite those posts being neatly reported!

I usually stay away from PDF Yugoslavia because the vibe is just off, but I've been reminded once again why that is.

West HB is basically just a clone of one of the moderators, specifically tasked with fanning the flames and poking at certain users to get a reaction...

...it’s all being done as part of a calculated plan.😉

So, he's only banned from the politics section?

I feel like a permanent ban is a bit much, honestly. Consti is a solid member of this Forum, doesn't go around being rude, and there are plenty of other spammers and trolls out there who are way worse...

PS
The Moderator won't even hand out a penalty because they think the topic is too "provocative"...

Look, I’m not a fan of homosexuals myself, but I still think using a slur like that should be treated just like any other insult on here...

That penalty for Constantinople is way too harsh, this is seriously messed up😢

You went after him, while the most stubborn provocateurs just get to stay right where they are. Pathetic.

Nah, man. It’s just that he was totally wrecking every single thread with those schizophrenic posts of his, constantly spamming stupid topics, and basically killing any real discussion by just hitting the upvote button on everything. Like, one second he’s upvoting stuff about the Muslim conquest of Central Canada, and then suddenly he’s all over the HVO Central Canada stuff. I mean, you can't do that unless your head is seriously scrambled, right?

He hasn't even written a single constructive post longer than one sentence—not even like this one! Kind of reminds me of that Turkey fan who showed up on the Forum acting all "multicultural" and stuff.

James Fowler52 said:Regarding the discussion here.
Consti is the type who writes one thing today and then goes completely the opposite direction tomorrow. I suspect his whole persona is basically just trolling. It seems to me that there might be some deeper issues at play with him too.

Personally, I only know Constantinople from reading stuff online.
It’s always the same pattern: a thumbs up here, a bit of vomiting, a little praise, a little spitting...
One topic about Constantinople is plenty, but two is just getting ridiculous.
What did he ever do to deserve this?

Only someone with a totally scrambled brain acts like that.

The guy hasn't written a single constructive post longer than one sentence. Same deal with that Turkey fanboy above who tried to act all "multicultural" when he first showed up on this forum.

What does it matter what he thinks if he isn't actually insulting anyone?
