Sandkings (1995)

I’ve spent the entire evening fruitlessly scouring IMDb for some horror flick from the 80s or 90s. I'm pretty sure either Jeff Bridges or Beau Bridges was in it. It’s called "Sandkings." The plot involves these creatures living in a family's garage who try to snatch the son away because they're jealous of his bond with his dad, or something along those lines... I remember seeing it mentioned in movie magazines back in the day, but now it’s nowhere to be found, even after digging through both of their filmographies. Either I’m losing my mind and made the whole thing up, or it's been wiped from existence😕 ???

Interesting—though honestly, the story feels more like a psychological horror-thriller than anything else, so they're definitely going to have to pad out the plot quite a bit to make it work as a full feature.

Look, it's definitely the standout piece from that specific issue of Sirius, but calling it the absolute best across all 156 issues? Probably not.
That said, it is absolutely fantastic.

If they ever did an adaptation, they should stick strictly to the source material—no unnecessary fluff or padding. That simplicity is exactly why it works so well.
As for that ending... let's just say it hits with the same gut-punching shock value as the movie "The Mist".

That story from issue number 99 was truly exceptional. It’s one of those pieces well worth revisiting.👍

The move would be to adapt it exactly as written—no fluff, no unnecessary expansions. That simplicity is where the magic happens.

I meant it was the best novelette.

Actually, scratch that—it might just be my favorite sci-fi story, period.
