I’m honestly at my wit's end searching the web for answers, so I figured I’d just turn to you guys and see if anyone actually knows what they're talking about... maybe someone here has been through this before?
It feels like nobody I know deals with hearing loss this early in life, which is... well, it's just frustrating. I'm trying to figure out if there's any kind of surgery out there that can actually fix things and get my hearing back to normal. From what I understand—though I don't really trust the info because doctors seem to change their story every single time I visit one—it's nerve damage. They told me I've got about 53% loss. Is that just permanent? Or is there some advanced procedure somewhere, even outside the US, regardless of how much it costs? It would be such a massive weight off my shoulders to know there's a way to fix this, rather than just watching it get worse year after year.
p.s. Does anyone here belong to, or know anyone in, the American Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing?
