Never Back Down [2008]

So, I wanted to start a thread about this awesome movie that just hit theaters
It stars my absolute favorite actor, Sean Faris!
Has anyone else had a chance to catch it yet? P.S. Sorry if I mess up any formatting here—I'm still figuring out how everything works on this board! 🙂

So, what did you guys think of the movie?

I caught a screening of it the other day. Honestly? Nothing to write home about. A solid 4/10.

I'm planning on checking it out this week. Hope it's actually any good. 😉

I’m feeling pretty hopeless because it’s just so full of clichés—but hey, there are definitely people out there who live for that kind of stuff, so it might actually land well with them. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if FOX picked this up for their New Year's Eve lineup.

PS: I recently caught Step Up 2: The Streets (didn't see the first one, by the way). It feels pretty similar to this movie. I’m seriously just waiting for the day Hollywood decides to make a blockbuster about buff guys competing in high-stakes folk costume crochet contests. 🙄

I dabble somewhat in various combat sports myself 😍...in my estimation, the film is quite excellent, particularly for the younger crowd, which I assume accounts for most of you 🤷

If you’re actually into martial arts movies, you absolutely have to check out Redbelt. I watched Redbelt first and then went straight into Never Back Down, and let me tell you—that second one was just pathetic. It was so incredibly full of clichés, honestly just some cheap flick made for kids. But Redbelt? Same vibe, all that MMA and Jiu-Jitsu stuff, but it is ten times better. A genuinely great sports drama.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this movie. I saw someone online claiming this is just a carbon copy of the 1984 The Karate Kid. I haven't watched it yet, but the premise does feel a little familiar. So... what do you think?

The movie was just okay, honestly. Nothing special—I felt like I’d seen the whole thing before.

I haven't actually sat down to watch it yet, but a buddy of mine told me it was awesome and said he’s definitely going back for a rewatch.
I've got the soundtrack, though, and it's pretty solid.

It was actually pretty good
And I guess the actors were 🤣

I haven't actually sat down to watch the movie yet, but I noticed it’s from the same producer behind Step Up 2: The Streets, so it’s probably got some merit.
All I have right now is the soundtrack, and honestly, the music is pretty solid.
(Highly recommend)
