Anyone here cured of hepatitis C?

I'm currently dealing with this virus, so I was wondering if anyone else here is going through something similar...

Seriously, what is going on here?!!!!!!!!!!! We have thousands upon thousands of people dealing with this exact same issue, yet nobody seems willing to actually speak up and address the "bottleneck"... What kind of community have we become?

It’s the same story for me when it comes to hepatitis B. Everyone just keeps their mouth shut.

Honestly, people just don't get how much this thing has spread. Like, the WHO is estimating that around 500 million people out there are dealing with some form of hepatitis. And they’re even projecting that by 2010, hepatitis C could end up claiming more lives than AIDS. It really makes you stop and think...

My parents both dealt with hepatitis C. My dad cleared it on his own, but my mom had to go through interferon treatment. It lasted a full year and put the entire household into a state of crisis... everything was a mess for her and for us. If you have specific questions, just ask.

Hepatitis is basically liver inflammation.

Most of the time, it’s viral. There’s a whole lineup of viruses that cause this mess—Hepatitis A, B, C, D, E... plus stuff like EBV or CMV...

The big ones? Hepatitis A usually spreads through dirty hands or contaminated food at a restaurant. It hits you fast, but most people bounce back without much drama. There’s a vaccine for it.

Hepatitis B can be passed down through families—like from a mother during birth, which is common in parts of Asia or Russia—but out here in the States, it’s mostly sexual contact or bloodborne stuff, like sketchy tattoos, piercings, or needles...
Hepatitis B can trigger an acute flare-up that clears on its own, or it can turn chronic. And if it goes chronic, you're looking at potential liver cancer.
There’s a vaccine. There’s also treatment.

Hepatitis C is mostly spread via needles, though sex is an option too. Even snorting cocaine can do it if you're sharing a dirty straw. Sometimes it just clears out on its own.
The catch is there’s no vaccine. You can get treatment, but it’s a grind with plenty of side effects, and how long it takes depends on the specific strain.

Is that your professional medical opinion or something? Hepatitis C is curable—maybe not in 100% of cases, but certain genotypes see cure rates up to 75% when using interferon alpha plus ribavirin. The treatment isn't exactly a walk in the park, given the side effects and how long it drags on (up to 48 weeks)... but most patients can actually get rid of Hepatitis C if they're willing to make some sacrifices.
