Hey everyone.

Long before I ever stepped foot onto a college campus, I was already messing around with this stuff—starting back at the tail end of middle school, taking a little breather during high school, and then it became a constant thing from my junior year all the way through graduation. It wasn't like I was sitting around grinding all day or anything; it was more of a weekend thing, just hitting it hard with the crew.

After high school, I worked for about a year and kept things pretty clean during that stretch. But then college happened. From the very first day I showed up on campus until right now—and I'm finishing up my sophomore year—there hasn't been a single day where I haven't been high for most of the day. I ended up falling in with a crowd that smokes, and I just drifted right into it; honestly, it kind of swallowed me whole.

Lately, though, I’ve started getting a little anxious about my lifestyle and my daily rhythm, especially when it comes to the weed situation.
I can see changes in how I act, and I definitely notice myself acting... well, "dim." Just yesterday, I was talking to this girl I'd only just met, and I decided to be brutally honest with her. I asked, "Do you think I look stoned?" And she didn't hold back—she said yeah, I definitely did.

That thought has been looping in my head all day today, and I have to say, I'm genuinely worried. I'm just done with it; I really want to jump off this runaway train.

So, here's my question: how bad are the consequences of being constantly high like this? What really scares me is whether any of this damage is actually reversible.

And, you know how it goes with marijuana—there isn't much that has been definitively proven by science yet. Although, it is typically suggested that short-term memory suffers (which might be why people feel a bit 'dim'), and in younger individuals, it can potentially trigger psychosis or schizophrenia (though presumably only if there is already a genetic predisposition there). Not to mention the fact that people often tend to gain weight. 😁

Based on my own experience with the groups I’ve spent time with, all the effects of weed seem to be quite fleeting. Once they stop using it, most of them eventually return to their normal selves after a while. I haven't personally noticed anyone suffering from any lasting consequences.

Well, I suppose one could argue that anything consumed in excess, regardless of what it may be, tends to do us more harm than good. 😁

15 men who smoked more than five joints a day over a period exceeding ten years.

Well, I'm not quite sure who possesses the sheer madness required to smoke five joints every single day for a decade, so this study doesn't carry much weight in my eyes...

I swear to God 🤣

Quit smoking—you'll feel better. Just cut back.
Do you smoke regularly?

Before college, I’d messed around with it a bit—starting back in late middle school, then a little break during high school, and then it became a constant thing from junior year until graduation. It wasn't like I was smoking all day long or anything, just some weekend sessions with my buddies.

After high school, I worked for a year and stayed pretty "clean" during that time. Then college hit. From the literal first day I stepped on campus up until now (end of sophomore year), there hasn't been a single day where I haven't been baked. I ended up hanging with a crowd that smokes, I fell into it, and honestly, it just swallowed me whole.

Lately, I've been getting a little worried about my lifestyle and my habits, especially when it comes to weed.
I can see changes in how I act; I feel like I'm acting "stupid"... I actually asked this girl I just met yesterday, totally sincere: "Do you think I look stoned?" And she told me straight up—that I looked pretty cooked.

It’s crossed my mind a few times today, and man, I'm starting to freak out about it. I'm over it. I really want to jump off this "runaway train."

So, here's the question: how bad are the consequences of being constantly high? What’s really worrying me is, are these effects permanent? Can I fix this?div>

Dude, chill out. You're just overthinking it. From what I can tell, you aren't even hitting it as hard as you think.😁I was smoking throughout all of high school and my freshman year of college, then I just quit and had zero issues.
My advice? Don't overdo it. Don't let the weed run your life; you should be the one in control. Like, smoke occasionally just to unwind, and you'll see—slowly, you won't even feel the urge anymore. And if you do light up once in a while just to relax, trust me, it isn't going to wreck you.

Totally agree. It’s true that it messes with your memory, but only for a little bit. In my experience, it takes about as long to feel totally normal again as it took you to start smoking... though that doesn't make much sense either... and someone else mentioned they don't know anyone who smokes five joints every single day for ten years straight... oh yeah... I know plenty of people like that. And Booog helped him out! 😁 As for what you're saying... maybe you'll feel a little foggy, but you'll snap back pretty quick. Seriously, don't sweat it. Just listen to Alex! That girl you were talking about... ☕
