At least he didn't suffer too much. He was actually acting so cheerful those last few days, eating well and even putting on some weight...and then just out of nowhere..
Hang in there, everyone. I really hope you guys win this fight ASAP!! Best.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.

Thanks. And seriously, thank you all once again. This board has been such a huge help—we really weren't alone through any of this... plus we picked up so much useful info. Thanks everyone.

Angela Wright, were you watching CNN yesterday?
I was listening to a report about those poor souls whose lives are being cruelly toyed with by the government because they refuse to provide them with life-saving medication just because it’s too expensive (Sutent)😲...I honestly don't even know what to say about any of this...it's absolutely horrific! 😠

I caught a segment about those poor souls whose lives are being tossed around by a heartless government just because they can't afford their medication (Sutent)😲...honestly, I'm at a loss for words...it's absolutely gut-wrenching! 😠

Both slyseal28 and I were there 😬

Things will get better👍

I'm not actually angry at the government... in fact, I'm perfectly fine with seeing my payroll taxes go up if it means pulling our healthcare system out of this mess and ensuring medical care stays free for everyone! What really gets under my skin is the sheer fact that this one drug costs HALF A MILLION DOLLARS!!! 😠 😠 😠 We really ought to implement some kind of international law where no single medication can be priced above a reasonable limit—and anyone who breaks that law should be prosecuted like the high-level criminals they are! It is absolutely mind-boggling that pharmaceutical companies rake in billions of dollars by profiting off human health and actual lives!!! 😠 😠

It is absolutely insane that Big Pharma pulls in billions of dollars by gambling with human lives and health!!! 😠 😠

The real issue here isn't a lack of funds; there's plenty of money, even with the current tax hikes. The problem is that the cash just leaks out through holes in the system—specifically into the pockets of the head of Medicare, who's busy buying up luxury real estate☕☕☕.
Drugs are expensive because it takes an astronomical amount of capital to fund research that spans decades and requires endless armies of scientists, labs, materials, and more. The pharmaceutical industry has to recoup its investment and then some, and let's be real, they aren't doing this for charity. You can't realistically regulate all of that, but what we *can* do is put the squeeze on the companies that withhold life-saving meds while still slapping sales tax on them when sick people are scraping together every cent just to afford a single dose.

Look, maybe don't go out of your way to defend Big Pharma. I've looked into this enough to know that all that "research" talk is basically just a smokescreen for robbing people who are already at their lowest—the sickest among us. No other industry pulls in margins like the pharmaceutical giants do. Trust me, they couldn't care less about your health; they're just focused on squeezing every last cent out of your wallet.

Jamie Rivera78 said:Look, you really shouldn't be playing defense for Big Pharma. I'm pretty well-versed in how this works, and frankly, all that research talk is just a smokescreen for fleecing the sickest people out there. No other industry pulls margins like the pharmaceutical giants do. Make no mistake—your health isn't their priority; their priority is squeezing every last cent out of your pocket.

Trust me, I know exactly what’s going on and I’m certainly not defending them, but even if we set aside their blatant greed, we're still talking about astronomical numbers that would make anyone's head spin, and those drugs would remain prohibitively expensive regardless.
You see, when we first started diving into this "hobby" of ours, we had to face the cold, hard reality of both sides. We work alongside various scientists—some of them world-class experts—and they tell us straight up how grueling and exhausting the road to developing a drug like Sutent actually is. That process costs a fortune, and then you have the executives at the big pharma corporations stepping in to tack on their own massive profit margins on top of it... so yeah, I get it, I really do. At the same time, I also know that passing some kind of sweeping federal law to rein them in is basically pure Utopia, but I also know that putting pressure on the players in our own backyard is entirely doable. That’s exactly what we’re doing—just a small group of us—and we’re making progress, even if our numbers are slim. Just imagine what would happen if everyone rose up together, like they did back when they fought against Sunday closing laws... man, where would it end?🙏

Angela Wright, have you had a chance to watch that Michael Moore documentary, "Sicko"? If you haven't seen it yet—and I really think you should—do let me know via PM... I'd be more than happy to send a copy your way.

She actually reached out to me yesterday... her blood work is looking pretty grim, and she was barely able to get any words out. She mentioned she was heading to the hospital to get her hemoglobin levels checked. I haven't heard anything since then...

If memory serves, the documentary focuses on health insurance... though not really on those left out in the cold without coverage, but rather on the people who actually *do* have insurance, only to find out how much the big insurance companies try to screw them over. It’s all that nonsense where they'll cover surgery on one finger but suddenly decide the other one isn't covered...

I'm not quite sure how that ties back into the pharmaceutical companies, though... 😕 — it looks like the conversation drifted in that direction, didn't it?

Well, look, the point of the film is showing how those profit-driven vultures run the insurance companies—and frankly, I’m convinced that same breed of corporate greed drives the pharmaceutical giants too. I mean, I still can't wrap my head around how a single medication can cost half a million dollars!!! Are you seriously expected to sell your house or your entire life savings just to get well?!?! 😲 😲 😲 It's absolutely appalling!

Anyway, arguing about it all is probably a lost cause at this point—let's focus on something more productive, like how to recover quickly or, better yet, how to actually help people close to us. I have an idea for helping folks that might be a little tricky to pull off, but I really don't feel like typing out the whole thing on a public forum. Angela Wright, slyseal28, if either of you are interested, shoot me a private message...
