I'm looking for some solid recommendations for a good psychotherapist in Washington, D.C.
It doesn't really matter if they work through a community clinic or in private practice; my only real requirement is that I'd prefer to see a woman.

Thanks so much!

Absolutely nothing here 😢

Is there any way a moderator could move this thread over to the psychology section?

Doesn't matter if they take insurance or if it's private practice—my only requirement is that the therapist is female.

Thanks!

What exactly do you need therapy for, and who are you looking for?

There’s actually a huge thread already over in Psychology! Maybe take a quick peek there first—if you don't find what you need, feel free to ask a new question.

If you're looking for someone to trust, I can't recommend Dr. John Smith enough. She runs her own private practice right in the heart of Washington, D.C., over at 11 Kastav Avenue, and you can reach her office at 363-868 or 363-941. Honestly, she is just a wonderful person to work with.

wearybison8, why does it have to be a woman? I’ve got Mladen Stracenski right here if you want a male recommendation instead.

Look... here's the thing.

So, something happened recently—my good friend is actually a psychologist, so I asked her to help me track down a therapist.

The thing about finding a therapist is you really need to have a handle on your own personality and what exactly is going on with you first.
To be clear—I'm pretty tough, grounded, and realistic... but my issue is expressing emotions.

That’s why she suggested someone who won't just approach things with logic or the same "realist" attitude I use—but instead focuses entirely on the emotional side (since that's where I struggle). You get what I mean??

Plus, they aren't all the same—everyone has different specialties.

So, what's your deal? What's bothering you, honey?

Honestly, it really has to be a woman.🤷
