I’ve been using Chrome, and my homepage used to be Google. Then I downloaded this free FarmVille game from some random site, and now everything is broken. The game won't even run, and suddenly my homepage has switched to Google.com without my permission. Is there a simple way to undo this? I don't know how. I tried running CleanMyMac, thinking a quick disk cleanup would wipe out whatever hitched a ride on that download, but clearly, that wasn't enough. I didn't click anything else besides the initial download, yet here I am, dealing with this mess all day. Can anyone help me out, please?
I'm not sure if it matters, but I am running Windows 7.

Just grab AdwCleaner and let it scrub everything...

..once you're in Chrome, just head over to settings and set Google as your home page

Man, don't give me that nonsense, because it's just gonna snap right back to itself unless you clean everything out with AdwCleaner first, plus honestly, wouldn't a Malwarebytes scan be a pretty good idea too?

My bad... I just assumed there was some antivirus issue going on, and she mentioned it was just the homepage that changed. So, basically, just switch it back to what it used to be... you know, Google.

ps: ...seriously, how can you just tell someone they're talking "bullshit"... where's your class?

Assumption is the mother of all screw-ups... pardon my French...
And culture? I once asked a piece of malware to just leave me alone, for crying out loud...
The issue is you’re offering a wounded soldier a Tylenol when he actually needs surgery. You need real protection so this doesn't happen in the first place. When there's a problem, you find the root cause instead of just masking the symptoms. That garbage trashing your computer needs to be wiped out, not ignored while we pretend everything is fine...

Check your installed programs list for anything you didn't intentionally put there and get rid of it. After that, just refresh your page in Chrome.

You might also want to run a scan with AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes, just like everyone else suggested.

I don't get why everyone is overthinking this... I already laid out how to fix the issue, and we all saw she stepped up and confirmed it was sorted.
Why bother running a bunch of extra installs and scans when everything is working perfectly? Or is the rule here "why take the easy route when you can make it complicated"? 😢
Look, I'm no rookie. I've been messing with computers since the days of the original IBM PCs, and honestly, I've been at this for well over fifty years now.😁
