I'm feeling the same hesitation. Based on all the reviews, it looks like they kept the core plot but watered down the horror elements, moved the finale to Mexico, and even swapped out the ending for a happy one. I'm mostly just curious about how bad Jessica Alba actually is in this 🙏 🙏 🙏

I have the exact same dilemma regarding whether or not to watch the Shutter remake 🙈

I'm having the exact same dilemma about whether to sit through the Shutter remake 🙈

I saw original The Eye in theaters. Watched the original Shutter at home.

My guess? Alba probably tanked a huge chunk of the movie. It’s like Hollywood can’t grasp the fact that you don't cast "bombshell" types in serious horror. 😵
If a film wants to be actual horror, it shouldn't rely on stereotypical sexualization. Go ahead and lean into pathological deviations—honestly, the weirder and more twisted, the better 🙄. But showing off naked women or "pretty butts"? No. ☕

They'll likely ruin Shutter the same way. Oh well. 😢

I suspect Jessica Alba has already compromised a significant portion of the film. It’s as if they just don't grasp that you don't cast "foxy ladies" in horror movies. 😵
If a movie is meant to be a horror, it shouldn't rely on stereotypical sexuality. Pathological deviations? Sure—in fact, the more twisted, the better 🙄. But showing off beautiful, naked women? Absolutely not. ☕

The Shutter remake will likely be ruined too. Oh well. 😢

Truth. 🙂

I had the misfortune of watching The Eye right after Shutter, so it wasn't nearly as terrifying as I was hoping, but it’s still one of the better Asian horror films out there. For some reason, I actually want to see the remakes of both, even though I know I'll regret it 😢 osobito zbog Jessica Alba 🙏.

Damn, now I just remembered I haven't seen "Re-Cycle" by the Pang brothers—it also stars Angelica Lee, and based on the trailer, it looks excellent 🙏 🙏.

That movie was absolute garbage, $8.25 I honestly can't even begin to describe how much I hated it.😠

I thought the movie was honestly great! It’s definitely one of those picks that works best if you're heading to the theater with a partner, you know? There are a few parts that might be a little tough to wrap your head around at times, but in my opinion, it's totally awesome=

Well... thank God people have different tastes... if everyone liked the exact same things, every woman in the world would be beautiful to everyone, and I don't think anyone could handle that 😬

I watched original The Eye the second it hit the video store... an excellent, spooky flick... and I have zero intention of watching the American version because I know exactly what they do when they remake a successful movie... just look at the mess they made with the krug or the kletva... they completely lack that sense of mysticism the Japanese directors manage to pull off

I haven't actually sat down to watch the original one, but I did catch this remake starring Jessica Alba.
It’s nothing to write home about, honestly, but I wouldn't say it was a total disaster either. 😕I actually really liked how it wrapped up—it was super unexpected and kept things interesting, which is huge for me because I absolutely loathe those movies where you already know exactly how everything is going to end by the halfway point. 🙄

Totally agree.

It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but it wasn't bad either. 😕 I actually liked the ending because it was unexpected and kept things interesting. I hate it when you already know how a movie is going to wrap up halfway through. 🙄

I agree. I haven't seen the original either. This one is decent, but nothing to write home about. 🙄

I'm facing the exact same dilemma when it comes to sitting through the Shutter remake. Is it even worth the time? Honestly, I can't decide if I should just skip it entirely or give it one shot—though, knowing my luck, I’ll probably regret it either way. 🙈

Look, if you’re thinking about picking up Shutter, just don't—it’s an absolute train wreck. Seriously, save your money. Now, that other one with the Alba album? It definitely has its moments—there's some stuff in there actually worth your time—so it might be worth a look if you have the patience for it.☕

The original is definitely better, but honestly, the remake is still worth a watch just to see Abby 😁

What’s with the obsession with Japanese films? Seriously, who actually wants to sit through that garbage—bad acting, not to mention the language barrier? I can barely make out what they’re saying half the time. As for The Eye, I just finished it and it’s top-tier—total A-list stuff. Honestly, I have zero interest in watching the original, even if I had the chance. And regarding Abby, she was actually great, so give her a break... Some guy here even claimed Rade was good, which is a joke. The guy shows up for maybe two or three scenes—how on earth are you deciding his acting is "good" based on that? Maybe during that one birthday wish at the start, or when he says like four sentences in a coffee shop, or when he waves a conductor's baton a couple of times at the end? Give me a break.

I’m guessing Abby basically tanked a decent movie here. It’s like they just don't get that you don't cast "foxy ladies" in horror. 😵
If it's supposed to be horror, it shouldn't rely on these stereotypical sexual vibes. Go ahead with the pathological deviations—actually, the weirder the better 🙄—but showing off some hot girl's ass? No thanks. ☕

Shutter is gonna be ruined too. Figures. 😢

As if they should've just cast some 450-pound woman instead of Jessica, right... give me a break.

I caught a glimpse of it yesterday—rather dull, if I'm being honest.

Honestly, such a snooze fest! The only part that actually kept me awake was the ending because it tries to make a point, but looking at the big picture, it’s just not worth your time.
