Here is what the Mayo Clinic website says about Lupocet:
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
How should you take LUPOCET tablets?
Adults and children over 12 years old:
Take 1 to 2 LUPOCET tablets 3 to 4 times daily, as needed.
Wait at least 4 to 6 hours between individual doses. In cases of severe kidney impairment, the interval between doses should be at least 8 hours.
Do not exceed 8 tablets in a 24-hour period.
The maximum recommended daily dose is also the absolute maximum allowed.
How long can you use LUPOCET tablets?
For adults, use for no longer than 10 days without consulting a doctor; for children, no more than 3 days.
If your symptoms don't improve despite using LUPOCET, or if new symptoms emerge, consult a pharmacist or physician.
So, you can still take them. Honestly, though, if I were you, I'd just head straight to the emergency dentist. Use a cold compress on your face—it might help a little.

My bad—got my meds mixed up. I didn't take Lupocet, it was Tylenol. I usually end up mixing those two anyway. Ugh. Anyway, I took the Tylenol at 2:00 PM, then followed it up with some Voltaren Rapid after I posted this thread... the pain has dialed back a bit. Hopefully, I can avoid an ER visit. If the pain spikes again, I’ll head in. Regardless, I have a dentist appointment this Monday to get things checked out anyway.
Thanks for getting back to me.🙂

I took the Tylenol at 2:00 PM, and then I took Voltaren Rapid right after I posted this thread. The pain has gone down, and I'm hoping I won't need to head to the ER. If the pain comes back, I'll go. Either way, I have an appointment with my dentist on Monday for some imaging.
Thanks for the reply. 🙂
Tylenol and Lupocet are the same thing: paracetamol.
You can take up to 4 grams a day, but for intense pain, NSAIDs like Voltaren, Aleve 550mg (maybe the strongest option), or ibuprofen work better...
You can combine those with paracetamol if the standard dose isn't cutting it.

You can always stack them with paracetamol if the standard dose isn't cutting it.
Guess I'm sticking to Voltaren from here on out... wish me luck making it until Monday.😉

Anyway, I took the Tylenol at 2:00 PM, and then I had some Voltaren Rapid after I posted this thread... the pain has subsided slightly, and I am sincerely hoping I won't need to end up in the ER. If the pain returns, I will certainly head in. Regardless, I have an appointment on Monday with my dentist for some imaging and follow-up.
Thank you so much for the reply, 🙂
If there is an actual infection brewing in that tooth, there isn't any amount of Voltaren in the world that is going to fix it.....
I know this from firsthand experience... it might offer a moment of temporary relief, but truly, the only thing that helps is having a dentist drill into the tooth to release the pressure from the gases building up inside. It’s the only way to get real relief. I have dealt with these exact types of pains quite often, and if even Voltaren fails to touch it, then you are dealing with an inflammation that nothing can soothe.
If you happen to be in a major city like Chicago or New York, there are usually emergency dental clinics open around the clock (I can't recall the specific locations offhand) that could just open the tooth up for you... just enough so you can survive until you see your regular dentist...
Back when I was suffering through pains so intense that absolutely nothing worked—honestly, I found myself daydreaming about someone just knocking me unconscious with a punch to the head, just so I wouldn't have to think about the pain anymore.... it was an absolute catastrophe!!!

I know from experience—the only thing that actually helps (temporarily) is having a dentist drill it open just enough to release the pressure. I've dealt with this before, and if the painkillers aren't working, it means there's an infection involved that nothing can soothe.
If you're in a major city like Chicago, there should be an emergency dental clinic open through the night (can't remember which one specifically) that can just open the tooth for you—just enough to get you through until your regular appointment...
Back when I had pain so bad that nothing worked, I honestly found myself wishing someone would just knock me unconscious with a punch to the head so I wouldn't have to think about it. It was a nightmare.
The pain is in a tooth with a crown, so any major work means they'd have to destroy the crown entirely. Anyway, the Advil started wearing off after a few hours, so I took another dose—hoping I can at least get a little sleep tonight. A friend of mine is a dentist; if things get truly unbearable, I'll check with her before heading to the ER... though I'd much rather the pain subside so I can hold out until Monday.
Honestly, I've always been anxious about this specific tooth—worrying about what might be happening underneath the crown where you can't see it. 🤷 I'm hoping it's just my wisdom tooth acting up again, but I doubt it, because that wouldn't explain why this crowned tooth is hurting the most. 😢
