So, I opened the forum homepage this afternoon without even logging in—just browsing—and I saw my username right there, showing me as logged in. Naturally, I panicked. I reinstalled everything, restarted my entire computer, and when I checked again, the status still said I was online. Then, I tried logging in with a different account, and both profiles were showing up as active at the same time!

What on earth does that mean?
My mind immediately goes to the worst-case scenario—that someone might be hacking into my email or messing with my accounts. Is that actually possible?

Was this your first time logging in?
Your password seems standard enough... I'm assuming it isn't just your username or something?
Or maybe it's just a system glitch, could be that too 🙄

I'm pretty sure the mods and those higher-ups... they can read any post whenever they're bored.
... so honestly, it's probably best to just wipe your personal info... don't want to give some bored admin something to do 😉

Not quite.🙄
Jesus, I can't even begin to tell you how much these conspiracy theories and paranoia trips get under my skin.

Oh, absolutely—the mods can read your posts whenever they feel like it. Heck, checking up on what people are saying in private messages is practically part of their daily grind...🙄 ☕

Back to the main topic: from what I’ve gathered, whenever someone claims they're heading offline and actually disappears, that little status light usually stays lit for another 10 or 15 minutes before finally cutting out.

At this point, it's just become part of the usual folklore on this forum.😁

Then again—not every single theory out there is actually baseless.😈

Unless they actually logged out, as far as I know. And that's assuming they didn't check the "remember me" box or whatever.

Taylor Gonzalez79 said:This is just the usual folklore you see on this forum.😁

Sure, I mean, not every single conspiracy theory is actually a lie.😈

Whether it’s just folklore or actual fact, I didn't exactly invent this; I just wrote down what I thought was the case, so I'm not saying I'm certain.
I don't really lose any sleep over it, but my wife was asking.
Look, it didn't just come out of thin air—I’ve been sitting here reading through the threads. And while I was following along, not a single moderator bothered to actually deny anything... so, yeah. 🙄

Only the Admins, though... ☕

I’m pretty sure the moderators can’t even see private messages. Honestly, I doubt most of the admins can either—maybe just Anderlon and tbuza at most.

The only people who actually have the clearance to read those are the vBulletin system administrators.

So you're saying someone actually can. Fire... smoke... all that chaos, you know how it goes...

If you had been a little more specific, I might have actually looked into it, but this? 🙄Not really my thing.

Sandra Parker3 said:Unless they actually clicked logout—as far as I can tell, anyway—and didn't bother checking that "remember me" box or whatever that little toggle is called, they shouldn't be staying logged in.

So, what exactly am I supposed to make of this—that my light stays solid green twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week? 🤔

Sandra Parker3 said:Whether we’re talking about folklore or not—honestly, I wasn't claiming to be an expert here—I was just stating my own take on how things seem to work. I'm certainly not standing there with a PhD in sociology, so don't hold me to it; I'm just sharing what I suspect is the case.
I'm not exactly losing sleep over it—truth be told, I couldn't care less—but my wife went ahead and asked.
By the way—this didn't just spontaneously materialize out of thin air in my head—I’ve been doing my homework right here on the forums. And as I was digging through the threads, I noticed something rather telling: not a single moderator has stepped in to actually dispute what I've been saying... so, well... the silence speaks for itself. 🙄

Honestly, even the mods have lost the plot at this point—they’re clearly overstepping—and as for that specific post, I’m fairly certain you completely missed the sarcasm...☕

goldentrucker11 said:So what does it mean if my status icon stays green 24/7? 🤔

No, it's not that you're logging out manually. It's more like you just close the browser or walk away from the site, and then the system automatically marks you as offline after about 15 or 20 minutes...

Exactly—that's my point from earlier... the little status light stays lit for another 15-20 minutes, making us think we're still active when we've actually already checked out...☕

The only people with that kind of access are the actual vBulletin system administrators.

That would require some serious hacking skills.

And how exactly do you know for sure the mods aren't admins? 😲

There have been plenty of posts like that, but whatever... who cares at this point... ☕
Don't try to convince me that people just can't read. 🙄

I'm just wondering if anyone actually went digging through her account since she was busy logging in...
If that's the case, they'd need her password, so the mods are in the clear, haha. 🙂

So, you’re actually suggesting we should be writing things so personally that nobody could ever catch a glimpse?

As far as I'm concerned—and believe me, if anyone ever wanted to audit my digital paper trail—you could go ahead and read every single private message I've ever sent...🥳
