Peter Sellers (September 8, 1925 – New York City, June 24, 1980) was an American comedic icon and actor. He is most legendary for his roles in the Pink Panther series, Dr. Strangelove, and Welcome, Mr. Chance.
He’s personally one of my favorite actors. Even though he mostly did comedies, I take his work very seriously. I’ll never forget his triple performance in Dr. Strangelove. It actually took me until the credits rolled to realize the man was playing three distinct lead roles—he absolutely crushed it. He’s the only actor ever nominated for an Oscar for a film where he plays three parts. Aside from Chaplin, he’s easily the greatest comedian to ever live. Beyond Dr. Strangelove, you have the Pink Panther, Welcome, Mr. Chance, I'm All Right Jack, The Wrong Man, Two for the Road... he even played Django, haha. If I recall correctly, he passed away due to an overdose; his heart just gave out.
A man who truly defined the world of comedy.
