Mystery No. 2. Music playing out of nowhere

Then there's this: I'll leave the PC running with all my apps closed, head into the kitchen for a second, and suddenly I hear music drifting from the office. When I walk back in, I find a music file has just opened itself up.

If anyone has any theories or actual explanations, I'd really appreciate you sharing them.

I mean, these are textbook symptoms of malware—classic stuff, really. You aren't out of the woods yet, so you might want to call someone to come fix it before things get worse.

The answer to that first question is pretty straightforward.

Man, you’re subconsciously shaking the table with your foot.

1. Your monitor is probably defective.
2. You’ve got some garbage settings in your media player causing it to trigger on its own.

3. You’re dealing with a virus (which could explain either of those two issues, or both).

Actually, is the physical monitor shaking, or is it just the image on the screen? If the actual hardware is vibrating, then a virus isn't your problem. 😁

The situation is that, from time to time, the monitor shakes without any apparent cause or provocation, almost mimicking the sensation of a minor tremor... Despite my attempts to replicate the effect through various software commands, I haven't been able to simulate it...

Is the entire physical monitor vibrating, or is it just the image on the screen?

Just wipe all the music files off the drive and wait to see if anything else occurs
while you're away... It's entirely possible you have a Trojan and someone is messing with you remotely...
Of course, that can only happen if you're actually connected to the internet when it goes down...

I've tried tapping the motherboard a few times while the system is running, and strangely enough, the issues tend to vanish...😁
