I get it—but if Reddit signed a deal with that site for advertising, they’re stuck with it. It’s a contract. Not that I actually pay attention to those ads anyway.

The design is what really bummed me out... but I get it.😵

People running ads have already paid up for a specific number of days, impressions, or clicks. Removing them would be a breach of contract, and in most cases, I actually believe in honoring those agreements.

I think in this specific situation, there's a perfectly valid reason to act, and it's easy enough to just extend the contract by a few days as compensation...

But then again, that costs money.😉

Honestly, it’s glaringly obvious how obnoxious this whole aesthetic is. This blue theme the forum is using? It’s just tacky. A charcoal gray would have at least felt like something unique... unfortunately, it seems like every single website out there settles for this same irritating shade of blue everywhere you look.
Nothing original about it. But hey, it is what it is...
