How to use Adobe Premiere

Alright, here's the deal:👍
1. I just downloaded Adobe Premiere...
2. I've figured out how to trim stuff and toss parts I don't want... I can even shuffle clips around a bit.
But...:
1. I'm stuck on how to actually add music to the video. When I click on Audio, I have no clue what to do next. Am I stuck using nothing but WAV files???
2. Also... how do I get text to show up on the screen while the video is playing? You know, like subtitles or a title running along the bottom? How do I pull that off?

So, you just open up an AVI

Streams -> Stream list

A window pops up showing every single stream packed into that AVI. Just hit "Add" and pick the audio track you actually want to use.

Obviously, you've gotta set that old audio

to Disable or just kill it entirely. After that, go to File -> Save as -> give it a name, and make sure you select Direct stream Copy under the video options when you save.

So, how do I actually open an AVI file...
By the way... I'm running Adobe Premiere 1.6 over here...
And the thing is barely even 1 MB... so honestly, who knows if the whole file even downloaded properly!

Look, I’ve been using Adobe Premiere Mod 1.5.10 for years and honestly, I’d tell you to do the same. If there’s a newer version out, go for it, but this one has never let me down.

Actually, looking at it now, there's some kind of build 2 version available, so you might want to just grab that instead.

Just download the software along with all its plugins. Obviously, if you want anything to actually work in PremiereMod, you need to have the right codecs installed for whatever video you're trying to encode or mess around with.

Anyway, once you fire up PremiereMod, just hit File -> open video file and pick whatever you're working on.

Once that's loaded, just follow what I mentioned earlier under
Streams.

I can open the video... and I can cut things up... and toss parts out... but I can't find the Netflix option anywhere in the program!!

I’m not entirely sure if this workflow will actually help anyone else, but here is how I tackle my video projects using Premiere—it’s a bit of a process, but it works for me... First, I go in and trim all my clips, saving them without any sound at all (just disabling the audio option during the export). Once I have everything chopped up and ready to be stitched together, I handle the soundtrack separately by selecting a WAV format and importing the specific track I want to use. To get my music ready, I convert my MP3 files into WAV through iTunes. It's a little workaround—I just load the song into iTunes, head over to Settings, and select the Nullsoft Disk Writer Plugin. From there, I hit Setup to choose the specific folder where I want the WAV file to land. After that, I just Exit, hit Play in iTunes, and let it convert the track into a WAV. It might sound a little convoluted—maybe even a bit ridiculous to some—but it’s the system I use to get things done...

Stop talking nonsense. How can you not find it? You've got Netflix right there at the top between Video and Settings. Either you're blind or you just can't read.

Why bother? You can just export the audio directly from Premiere. It works whether the source is already an MP3 or if you need it as a WAV. Some people really love making things harder than they need to be.

You probably have this: Virtual Dub 1.4.13, not the MOD version.

No comment. Not sure how or why it isn't working for you, but it doesn't matter. You can do the exact same thing with the standard version.

So, you open the movie (File -> Open, click the file you want, and hit Open)

Let's say you want to strip out the entire audio track:

Highlight the section in the scroll bar where you want the audio removed. Just hold Shift and use the left and right arrows. Once you reach the starting point, hit HOME. Scroll further until you reach the end point and hit END. If you want to strip the audio from the whole movie, you don't even need to highlight anything.

Alright, once you've highlighted it, go here:

Audio -> No Audio & Direct Stream Copy

Video -> Direct Stream Copy

File -> Save As -> and type in whatever filename you want

When it finishes, your new video file will be sitting in a folder, just without any sound.

Hey, I need to know how to burn subtitles using Virtual Dub. I have Madagascar 2 and I'm stuck on where to actually put the subtitles. I've never done this before, so someone please explain it to me in the simplest terms possible.
