Look, I’m facing a level of censorship here that I just can’t wrap my head around... It isn't just that my perspectives are being mocked without any actual substance or counter-arguments; it’s that whenever I try to present a rebuttal—one that I believe is perfectly reasonable given my right to an opinion—my posts are simply deleted. This effectively prevents other users from seeing my thought process, essentially ripping my words out of context. What makes this even more frustrating is that the moderator himself was the one who originally brought up this specific topic.

I’ve actually been insulted by members of the staff, with them claiming my choice of terminology is "at the level of a two-year-old." When I tried to point out how disrespectful that was, my post was wiped away. How on earth would you characterize those kinds of "moderation tactics"? Seriously?

On a different note, I recently kicked up a bit of a fuss regarding the criteria for being banned and how things are being taken out of context. I was told there was nothing wrong with a certain user's behavior, simply because I had suggested to someone that they might be more intelligent than what they actually wrote.

So, I have to ask: is this forum fundamentally hypocritical, or am I missing something?

Here is the thread in question:

Here is the thread in question:

Look, the whole thread is about lonely hearts, not the referendum itself. If people were debating the specific criteria, that would be fine, but we all collectively turned this into a political circus until it became everything *except* a discussion about the criteria. Besides, I gave you two warnings, which you've been stubbornly ignoring.

First,
Second,

You ignored both of those, along with a few others. Honestly, I was being incredibly lenient because I was practically begging everyone to just chill out, but you guys acted like you didn't hear me. So, naturally, the bans had to happen. The moderators here feel there's zero point in hosting an overly politicized thread on a PDF that isn't meant for that kind of stuff.

And finally, you're reporting a post where someone is told they're thinking at the level of a toddler, only to turn around later and say: "but generalizing everything and throwing it all in one basket based on a single opinion is toddler behavior."

Later,

Exactly. We have to distinguish between correlating a topic with specific criteria—in this case, the referendum itself—versus engaging in a broad, sweeping debate about the referendum, the political campaigning surrounding it, or the clash of worldviews driven by ideological or political leanings.

The second option is simply redundant in our context.

As for the report regarding ex Anais, I don't see any evidence that the author of the appeal reported themselves using the triangle icon, even though their manner of speaking remained consistent.

Opening a clone account while you're under a ban? Real genius move right there. How does that work again? You get a 7-day extended ban on your main profile, and then the admins will deal with this one. 🙂

p.s. The user got flagged because she decided to reply to a moderator warning using a different font color, which is definitely not how we do things here. Peace out.

Well, someone really needed to point that out—though, let's be honest, you were the one who kicked things off by claiming that views on the marriage definition referendum are the ultimate litmus test for choosing a partner, so it’s actually pretty relevant here. But the second two other folks jumped in to explain their "YES" votes with actual logic instead of just hurling insults, suddenly this whole discussion became "unwanted." 😵

And just so it doesn't look like you're being vindictive, it would have been tactically smarter if some other moderator had handed me the card (assuming I actually committed an unforgivable offense) rather than you specifically.

If a moderator posts basically the exact same explanation twice, I don't see the point. Plus, if a huge chunk of posts gets wiped (without any formal bans), that should be taken as a good sign.

Why? In your case, you broke the rules, plain and simple. You don't comment on a moderator's official warning.

A positive sign for who, though? Or for what? Personally, I find having posts deleted to be a much harsher punishment than getting hit with a red card.

It's simply so things don't look like an abuse of power just because we happen to have conflicting opinions on a topic. That's why.

Well, that’s it. This discussion is officially dead in the water. Honestly, looking at how this group has handled things lately, it's pretty clear the whole thing has just gone soft.

I really think we could all use a refresher on how the forum rules actually work. Honestly, both neonfox12 and you were clearly playing the game when you started your posts with "I know I’m going to get a strike, but..." You both knew exactly what you were doing.

You play the victim and act like you don't know any better whenever it suits you. But let's be real—you're sitting in a position of power, and that’s exactly why nobody is holding you accountable.

Sure, that just goes to show we actually know the forum rules inside and out. We just decided to take the hit and risk an extended ban because we were chasing something bigger—the greater good, if you will. But hey, I guess that kind of selfless logic is a bit hard for an opportunist like you to wrap your head around. 🙄

Actually, it just proves that warnings don't do squat, which makes deleting posts the only logical move. I don't have much else to say on it—if the admins want to clear the warnings, they can, but the posts stay gone.

Look, I wasn't even complaining about my own reputation hit. Nor was I begging to have my deleted posts restored. I simply wanted to clarify my reasoning behind what happened. Personally, I think neonfox12 was punished way too harshly with that ban.
Maybe it’s because the title of this thread is actually pretty spot-on. To me, this whole situation reeks of a lack of transparency and basic ethics. I’m not being dramatic—I’m actually quite happy with how the mods handle this sub most of the time—but in this specific instance? Yeah, it’s definitely an issue.

Ahem. He wasn't just banned because of my report; he actually racked up over 100 points. In this case, we're talking three separate reports (and no, I didn't file them). He ended up getting an extended ban because he tried to open a burner account just to keep spamming this thread.

I guess we can just agree to disagree on this one.

Personally, I don't buy it (and honestly, I’d love for the admins or supermods to take a look at this one)—the idea that a moderator is allowed to stir the pot just to shut down the debate with their powers once they realize they're losing the argument. It’s one thing to moderate, but using those tools to forcibly end a discussion just because someone actually backed up their points? That feels less like management and more like picking on dissenters. 🤮

In a situation like that, I really think either another moderator on the subforum or someone from upper management should step in and address it.

I think you’re just missing how the process works here. This isn't about whose arguments were better; it's the simple fact that there were two official moderator warnings to wrap things up. I made it very clear that we—and yes, I include myself in that—simply aren't in a position to keep debating this without it spiraling into full-blown politics.

The posts weren't deleted because of the points being made, but because rules were broken right after the first warning. The penalties were handed out strictly for rule violations and because people showed up clearly intending to troll, using lines like, "I know I'm going to get flagged, but..."

Thanks for the feedback. Point taken.

I've been watching, but the situation seems pretty straightforward. Honestly, there isn't much left to say that Sophia Thomas7 hasn't already covered—and from what I can see, she’s being quite patient in explaining things post by post.

There isn't any targeting of dissenters; the warnings are strictly for rule violations. And, you know, we don't comment on colored moderator warnings or discuss moderation tactics within the threads itself.
I guess I just don't see any abuse of power here.

Besides, it's the moderator's job to steer the conversation and reel it back in if things drift too far off-topic, which is exactly what Sophia Thomas7 was doing with those warnings.
