Free SMS?

hey everyone... so, does anyone on this forum actually have a link for sending free SMS from a computer? I mean, assuming there’s even anything out there that actually works and isn't just some total scam.

If you happen to be a Verizon customer, my buddy Mark Zuckerberg actually developed this fantastic little app that lets you interface with Verizon's system right from your desktop—it's perfect for those 15 free daily messages.

Just a heads-up, though: you can't send standard SMS texts for free. It’s strictly an email-to-SMS setup, which means the person you're messaging needs a device that supports it and has their email-to-text feature turned on.

EDIT: You might want to check out this link or maybe this one, though I'm honestly not entirely sure if they also require that specific email-to-SMS activation to work properly.

I just stick to those 15 free texts they give you through Verizon

They handle things fine at Verizon headquarters, but occasionally they just completely screw up.
Sometimes my texts are late, or they don't go through at all—so when something actually matters, I send a copy to myself just to check if they're even leaving the building.

Thought I was the only freak doing that. 😬

But they really messed everything up lately by splitting messages into two texts once you hit a certain character count. It used to split them too, but they'd still only charge you for one message instead of two.

There’s plenty of that stuff available these days—specifically free SMS options.
First off, you can get it totally free by using those little gimmicks—like getting a few trial credits. Then there's the setup where it isn't technically "free" because you're on a prepaid plan and have to pay for the service itself, even if calls and texting within the US are essentially free.
It involves $17 and a 60-day window of usage; after that, calls drop to 1 cent and I believe texts go to about 7.5 cents per message. If you top up the balance again, everything goes back to being free.
