Rachel Palmer56 said:I'm asking about the Vineyard Hospital area, specifically the parking.
There's that hospital parking where I didn't see anyone paying, so I'm wondering
since it involves staying overnight—can I leave my car there? If I have to pay a daily rate, where do I go?
Are we talking about the lot behind the hospital?
If anyone knows, I'd really appreciate the help.

Just go to the lot above the hospital. It's free, and I guess you could probably leave your car there for a month.

I figured I’d just bump this thread instead of starting a whole new one.

Does anyone know if you still have to pay for parking near Mayo Clinic on Sundays?

No, you're in Zone 2, so there's no fee on Sundays. But you'll still have to pay for the garage.

Where can I pick up a monthly garage pass, Rebro? We’re going to be hanging around there for about two weeks, so I was thinking a monthly pass might actually be cheaper than paying the daily $67 rate. The problem is, I can't find any info online on where to actually buy one. Is it even possible to handle this remotely? Since we aren't from New York City, I'd rather not deal with the fact that a single visit costs as much as a whole monthly pass 🙂

Since we aren't from New York City, it would save us a lot if we could handle it ahead of time, especially since a single day of parking costs about as much as a whole month $67 🙂

Ask NYC Parking—you probably have to go through them to get anything set up.

I believe you can just buy a ticket right at the garage entrance

...

You just get it at the garage entrance—there's a little booth right on the left.
One time I actually went inside, grabbed the ticket from the machine, and took it over to the attendant to buy the monthly pass. He didn't even blink before voiding my entry ticket. So, yeah... even if you aren't local to NYC, it's easy enough.

I actually went inside once to grab one of those tickets from the machine, took it over to the attendant, and bought a monthly pass. He didn't have any trouble voiding the initial ticket I got at the entrance. So, yeah—just a heads-up since you mentioned you aren't from New York City.

Wait, a monthly pass?

Because I'm reading here that they offer daily and weekly options too:

Daily and weekly passes

Both daily and weekly passes can be purchased at the payment office within the specific garage you're using. If you enter via vehicle, you need to request the pass within 45 minutes of your initial entry by presenting your hourly parking ticket.

And I tried calling the municipal garage service line, but apparently, the number is out of service...

Thanks, it worked. 🙂 So you just pay at the gate and it's valid for a month.

Hey there,
quick question about parking near the Mayo Clinic.
I see they have a public garage online, but can you actually park right on the hospital grounds? Is it even possible to find a spot? And is it way pricier than the public garage?

Sorry if this isn't quite the right spot for this, just totally lost on where else to ask.

Thanks!

The entire street leading up to the Mayo Clinic and all the surrounding blocks are nothing but a massive parking lot. Honestly, it just depends on what time of day you show up if you want to find a spot. I believe it's about $1.00/hour, but let's be clear: if they haven't even cleared the snow off the spaces—meaning you can't even see the painted lines—then you shouldn't have to pay a dime for parking.

Wait, so you can't even drive right up to the hospital entrance?

It’s fine, provided you're transporting someone with limited mobility, or if you manage to charm your way past the porter—though I don't see any harm in stepping out for a minute or two if your health allows it.

Look, if you're dealing with someone who's stuck in bed or can't really get around on their own, just a heads up that we've got a wheelchair sitting right there in the garage ready to go. You just grab it, use it, and then toss it back in once you're done, so honestly, having the garage set up like this is a total lifesaver during this kind of season.

We were recently allowed into the hospital grounds because we were driving my 88-year-old grandpa in for surgery, but by 7:15 AM, there was already no space left in the lower lot.
If you're dealing with someone seriously ill, it's probably best to pull into the hospital area, drop them off, and then head back to the garage.

The issue with Zone 2 parking is that there's a three-hour limit, which is rarely enough time when you're heading to the Mayo Clinic.
